Current Affairs of 11 November

33rd ASEAN Summit - The 33rd edition of the ASEAN Summit began in Singapore. Prime Minister of Singapore Lee Hsien Loong is the Chairman of the Summit, which will continue till 15th November along with other related summits like East Asia Summit (EAS), Regional Comprehensive Economic Summit, (RCEP) and ASEAN plus summits. Opening Ceremony of the summit will take place on 13 November.

Prime Minister will Attend ASEAN Summit - Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to attend the East Asia Summit and Associated meetings of ASEAN on 14th and 15th November in Singapore. He will address the audience during the Fintech Conference along with the IMF Managing Director, Christine Lagarde. Fintech Conference is a part of Fintech festival which kicks off on 12 November. 

Ceremony on First World War - World leaders gathered in Paris on November 11, 2018 to lead the global commemorations to mark 100 years since the end of the First World War. The occasion saw around 70 leaders come together including US President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin to mark the centenary of the 1918 Armistice at the historic Arc De Triomphe in the French capital. Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu also attended the ceremony.

Dharmendra Pradhan
Dharmendra Pradhan Visited UAE - Minister of Petroleum and Natural Gas Dharmendra Pradhan met UAE Minister for Human Resource Nasser Bin Thani Juma Al Hamli in Dubai. Mr Pradhan is on a two-day visit to UAE. He discussed areas of cooperation with UAE in areas of Skill development of Indian people working in UAE.

Communication Satellite For J&K - Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) is gearing up for the launch of a communication satellite on November 14 that is specifically meant for Jammu and Kashmir and northeastern regions. ISRO will use GSLV-MkIII rocket to launch Gsat-29 from Sriharikota on November 14.

Train Exported to Sri Lanka - Indian Railways is all set to export to Sri Lanka a state-of-the-art swanky and modern DEMU train! Manufactured at the Integral Coach Factory (ICF) Chennai, this DEMU rake will be handed over to RITES (Earlier known as Rail India Technical and Economic Service). 

Cyclonic Gaja - A deep depression in the bay of bengal has intensified into a cyclonic storm named ‘Gaja’ and is likely to cross the North Tamil Nadu and South Andhra Pradesh coast between Cuddalore and Sriharikota on November 15.

Energy Efficiency Revolving Fund - The Asian Development Bank (ADB) would grant $13 million to the government-owned Energy Efficiency Services Ltd (EESL) to set up an energy efficiency revolving fund (EERF) under a tie-up announced. The fund aims to expand and sustain investments in the energy efficiency market in India, build market diversification, and scale up existing technologies.

Report on Cyber Attack - Russia, the US, China and the Netherlands were the top countries from where cybercriminals attacked users in India, with over 6.95 lakh such incidents between January-June 2018, according to cyber-security firm F-Secure. Interestingly, the top 5 countries that cyber attackers from India targeted were Austria, the Netherlands, the UK, Japan and Ukraine.
