Inland Multi-Modal Terminal Port - Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated an Inland Multi-Modal Terminal Port on river Ganga at Ramnagar in Varanasi. The inland waterways terminal is the first of the four Multi-Modal Terminals being constructed on National Waterways-I on River Ganga as part of the World Bank-aided Jal Marg Vikas project of the Inland Waterways Authority of India. The other three terminals are under construction at Sahibganj, Haldia and Gazipur.

Ananth Kumar - Union Minister for Parliamentary Affairs, Ananth Kumar passed away on November 12, 2018 in Bengaluru. A senior BJP leader from Karnataka, Ananth Kumar represented the Bengaluru South parliamentary constituency six times in Lok Sabha since 1996. Karnataka government has declared a three-day official mourning as a mark of tribute to the departed leader. 

Indian Ocean Rim Association - The 18th Indian Ocean Rim Association (IORA) Council of Ministers Meeting was held in Durban, South Africa.  VK Singh, Minister of State for External Affairs, attended the IORA Council of Ministers Meeting.

Global Cooling Innovation Summit - The Global Cooling Innovation Summit was inaugurated by Union Environment Minister Dr Harsh Vardhan in New Delhi. Dr Harsh Vardhan announced the launch of the Global Cooling Prize, an international competition to incentivize the development of a residential cooling technology that will have at least five times less climate impact that the standard Room Air Conditioning (RAC) units sold.

UNESCO Asia-Pacific Awards for Cultural Heritage Conservation - The LAMO Centre of Ladakh won the 2018 UNESCO Asia-Pacific Awards for Cultural Heritage Conservation. The centre won the ‘Award of Distinction’ for its systematic restoration project that used local building materials and indigenous construction techniques while skill fully introducing modern amenities to assure its ongoing use.

Special Mention Under UNESCO Asia-Pacific Awards - Two Mumbai projects fetched Honourable Mention under the 2018 UNESCO Asia-Pacific Awards. These two projects are Rajabai Clock Tower & University of Mumbai Library Building of Mumbai; and Ruttonsee Muljee Jetha Fountain, both belonging to the colonial-era.

Samudra Shakti - Indian Navy will participate in the inaugural edition of Indian Navy–Indonesian Navy Bilateral Exercise ‘Samudra Shakti’ scheduled from 12  to 18 Nov 18.

Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP)- Union Minister for Commerce & Industry and Civil Aviation, Suresh Prabhu, is leading the delegation for the meeting for trade Ministers of RCEP member countries which is taking place in Singapore on November 12-13, 2018. The Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) is a pact that aims to cover goods, services, investments, economic and technical cooperation, competition and intellectual property rights. The RCEP members include 10 ASEAN members – Brunei Cambodia, Indonesia, Malaysia, Myanmar, Singapore, Thailand, the Philippines, Laos and Vietnam and their 6 free trade agreement partners – India, China, Japan, South Korea, Australia and New Zealand.

Quadrilateral Security Dialogue - The third round of Quadrilateral Security Dialogue, or Quad, comprising India, the US, Japan and Australia will be held this week in Singapore on the sidelines of the East Asia Summit (EAS). While larger goal of Quad is to balance China in the Indo-Pacific region, both India and Japan view it as one of many plurilaterals to keep the Indo-Pacific region stable.

Year for Welfare of Disabled Soldiers - Army Chief Gen. Bipin Rawat said on November 12, 2018 that the Indian Army has dedicated the Year 2018 to the welfare of Disabled Soldiers who have been disabled in the line of duty, while serving the Nation.

India and South Korea Signed MoU - India and South Korea signed a MoU on cooperation in sports in New Delhi. Sports Minister Col. Rajyavardhan Rathore and Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism of South Korea Do Jong-hwan signed the MoU.

Strategic Oil Storage at Padur - India signed an initial pact to lease out a part of its underground strategic oil storage at Padur in Karnataka to Abu Dhabi National Oil Co (ADNOC) for storing crude oil, the second such deal with the UAE firm this year. India has built 5.33 million tonne (MT) of emergency storage enough to meet its oil needs for 9.5 days, in underground rock caverns in Mangalore and Padur in Karnataka and Visakhapatnam in Andhra Pradesh. It has allowed foreign oil companies to store oil in the storages on condition that the stockpile can be used by New Delhi in case of an emergency.
