Sunil Arora
Sunil Arora - President Ram Nath Kovind appointed Sunil Arora as the new Chief Election Commissioner (CEC), replacing OP Rawat. Arora will take charge on December 2. Arora was appointed as election commissioner in September 2017. He will have a nearly two-and-a-half-year tenure as CEC, with the General Election 2019 to be conducted under his stewardship.

Kartarpur Sahib (Pakistan) 
Foundation of Dera Baba Nanak - Kartarpur Sahib Road Corridor - The Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu on November 26, 2018 laid the foundation stone for the construction of Dera Baba Nanak (India) - Kartarpur Sahib (Pakistan) Road Corridor at a function in Mann village in Gurdaspur district of Punjab. On November 15, 2018, India and Pakistan had announced to build Corridors on their respective sides to let Sikh pilgrims visit the holy shrine without visa and to help them walk across and come back without having to secure a visa.


PAiSA - Portal for Loan - A centralized electronic platform for processing interest subvention on bank loans to beneficiaries under Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana – National Urban Livelihoods Mission (DAY-NULM) named “PAiSA – Portal for Affordable Credit and Interest Subvention Access” was launched. The web platform has been designed and developed by Allahabad Bank which is the Nodal bank. All 35 states and Union Territories and all scheduled commercial banks, and Cooperative Banks are likely to be on board PAiSA portal by year end.


New Direct Tax Law Task Force - The government appointed the Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) member Akhilesh Ranjan as convenor of New Direct Tax Law Task Force that is drafting a new tax law. The Task Force will submit its report to the government by February 28, 2019. 


Constitution Day - The 69th Constitution Day was observed across India on November 26, 2018 to mark the adoption of the Indian Constitution by the Constituent Assembly. The Constitution of India was adopted by the Constituent Assembly on November 26, 1949 and it came into force on January 26, 1950. In 2015 Union Government declared November 26 as Constitution Day on the 125th birth anniversary of Ambedkar.


Space Museums - Indian Space Research Organisation (Isro) has decided to set up space museums across the country, including Delhi and Thiruvananthapuram, to educate and inform the masses about space technologies and advancement in the space sector.


ADB Loan for Bihar State - Centre and Asian Development Bank (ADB) signed a 200 million dollar loan agreement to finance widening and upgrading of about 230 Kilometers State Highways in Bihar to all-weather standards with road safety features. 


70-feet Tall Statue of Lord Buddha - Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar unveiled a 70-feet tall statue of Lord Buddha at Rajgir in Nalanda district on November 25, 2018. The statue has been installed above a 16 metre radius pedestal in the middle of the lake Ghora Katora.


Women’s World Twenty20 Title - Australia clinched Women’s World Twenty20 title as they attained an easy win over England in the final of the Women’s World T20 tournament. This is Australia’s 4th title win at Women’s World T20. West Indies hosted the event.


National Milk Day - National Milk Day is celebrated on November 26 to mark the birth anniversary of India's most successful dairy entrepreneur Dr. Varghese Kurien, the founder of dairy firm Amul. India is the largest milk producer in the world. 


Tri-Service Exercise - A large scale tri-Service exercise involving assets of the Indian Navy, Indian Army and Indian Air Force was conducted at sea off Goa and Karwar from Nov 17-23. The exercise was coordinated by the Indian Navy’s Western Naval Command. This exercise was conducted as part of the biennial calendar of tri-Service exercises.


Habibganj and Gandhinagar Railway Station - Indian Railways’ first two world-class railway stations with state-of-the-art amenities – Habibganj in Madhya Pradesh and Gandhinagar in Gujarat – will be ready by early 2019. The Habibganj railway station is the first in India to be redeveloped under the PPP (Public-Private Partnership) model on the lines of Germany’s Heidelberg railway station. The work is being jointly done by Indian Railway Stations Development Corporation (IRSDC) and private firm Bansal Pathways Habibganj Private Ltd. 


Double Taxation Avoidance Agreement - India and China have amended the bilateral tax treaty.  Both countries signed a protocol on November 26, 2018, to amend the Double Taxation Avoidance Agreement (DTAA) for the avoidance of double taxation and for the prevention of fiscal evasion with respect to taxes on income.

Old Pension Scheme Restored In Delhi - Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal announced that the old pension scheme will be restored by his government. He said a resolution to restore the old pension scheme in the city will be passed in a special session of the Legislative Assembly. It will then be sent to the Centre for approval.


Reward for Mumbai Attack - United States announced a $5 million reward for information leading to the arrest or conviction in any country of any individual who committed, conspired, aided or abetted the 2008 Mumbai attack. The Trump administration announced this major reward (of more than Rs 35 crore) on the 10th anniversary of the terror attack (26 November 2018).

Bernardo Bertolucci - Italian film-maker Bernardo Bertolucci, who won Oscars with “The Last Emperor” and whose erotic drama “Last Tango in Paris” enthralled and shocked the world, died.


India Autism Centre - The India Autism Centre (IAC), a world-class autism township is being planned to be built near Kolkata, where children and adults suffering from the developmental disorder would receive training, treatment and boarding facilities. The one-of-its-kind initiative is a joint effort between a private firm and the state government.
