G20 Summit - 13th G20 Summit 2018 began on November 28, 2018 in the city of Buenos Aires, Argentina. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be representing India at the Summit and is scheduled to meet US President Donald Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping. President Mauricio Macri of Argentina assumed the presidency of G20 on November 30, 2017 for one year during an official ceremony. Nineteen leaders of the world's biggest economies and a representative of the European Union will attend the meeting.

Arvind Saxena - Arvind Saxena has been appointed as chairman of the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC). Saxena will have a tenure till August 7, 2020, when he attains the age of 65 years. He has been working as acting head of the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) since June 20.

Shri A.M. Naik - Shri A.M. Naik has been appointed as Chairman of National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC). Currently Shri Naik is the Group Chairman of India's biggest engineering and construction conglomerate – Larsen & Toubro Limited (L&T).


Golden Peacock award - Ukrainian film Donbass, directed by Sergei Loznitsa, won the coveted Golden Peacock award at the 49th International Film Festival of India (IFFI). Lijo Jose Pellissery won the Silver Peacock for Best Director for the Malayalam film Ee.Ma.Yau. The Best Actor (Male) Award went to Chemban Vinod, while Anastasiia Pustovit won the Best Actor (Female) Award. Milko Lazarov walked away with the Special Jury Award for his film Aga.


SAARC Summit - External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj threatened to pull out of the SAARC Summit, saying there would be no dialogue with Pakistan until it stops sponsoring terrorist activities. Earlier Pakistan Foreign Office Spokesman Mohammad Faisal said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be invited to the summit. In 2016, India had pulled out of the 19th SAARC summit that was to be held in Islamabad after the deadly terrorist attack on an Indian Army camp in J&K’s Uri.


SFIO Empowered - Centre has allowed the Serious Fraud Investigation Office (SFIO) powers to request look-out circulars (LoCs) against loan defaulters. The SFIO is a statutory body, under the Ministry of Corporate Affairs and investigates matters related to serious fraud in a company.

Martial Law in Ukraine - Ukraine's parliament has imposed martial law in the country to fight what its president called "growing aggression" from Moscow after a weekend naval confrontation off the disputed Crimean Peninsula in which Russia fired on and seized three Ukrainian vessels amid renewed tensions between the neighbors.


TCS Most Valued Company - Tata Consultancy Services once again became the most-valued Indian company by market capitalisation following a smart surge in its share price. Over the past few months, RIL and TCS are competing with each other to claim the number one position in terms of market capitalisation.


Penalty on Anand Rathi Brokerage Firm - SEBI (Securities and Exchange Board of India) has fined brokerage house Anand Rathi Rs 1 lakh for violating stock broker norms by transferring funds from the client's account to own account and vice versa on several occasions.


Mr. Regis Immongault - Minister of Foreign Affairs, Republic of Gabon, Mr. Regis Immongault visited India and met. Both Countries will work together in sectors like logistics, infrastructure, energy, water, agriculture, services and tourism.


Emergency Response Support System (ERSS) - Himachal Pradesh emerged as the first state in the country to implement Emergency Response Support System (ERSS) when Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh launched the system at Mandi. All emergency numbers, including 100 for police, 101 for fire, 102 for ambulance and disaster response have been integrated into countrywide one number, 112.

Making of New India: Transformation under Modi Government - The President of India, Shri Ram Nath Kovind, received the first copy of the book “Making of New India: Transformation under Modi Government”, from Shri Arun Jaitley, Union Minister for Finance and Corporate Affairs. This book is edited by Dr. Bibek Debroy, Dr. Anirban Ganguly and Shri Kishore Desaiand contains 51 essays on themes ranging from economy to diplomacy, education to public health.


Mission Raksha Gyan Shakti - Raksha Mantri Smt Nirmala Sitharaman has formally launched ‘Mission Raksha Gyan Shakti’, in New Delhi. The event showcased salient inventions and innovations achieved by Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO).


Hockey World Cup 2018 - Odisha is hosting the Hockey World Cup 2018. The opening ceremony of Men's Hockey World Cup took place at Kalinga Stadium, Bhubaneswar.  India is hosting the FIH Hockey World Cup for the third time. World's top 16 teams will fight for the coveted title in the 14th edition of the tournament.


Disinvestment of Air India - The government has appro­ved 100 percent stake sale in state-owned airline Air India’s ground-handling company Air India Air Transport Services Limited (AIATSL). The approval comes at a time when the government is working on ways to revive the fortunes of Air India — estimated to have the debt burden of more than Rs 500 billion, including the sale of non-core assets. AIATSL is Air India’s only profitable subsidiary. 


Penalty on West Bengal Government - The National Green Tribunal (NGT) has imposed a fine of Rs 5 crore on the West Bengal government for failing to take steps to improve the air quality of Kolkata and Howrah. The NGT directed that the cost should be paid within two weeks to the Central Pollution Control Board. 


National Conference of Heads of Investigating Agencies - The 2nd National Conference of Heads of Investigating Agencies will be organised by the Bureau of Police Research and Development in New Delhi on November 29, 2018. The heads of state crime branches and other state police investigation agencies like Economic Offence Wing, Special Task Force will participate in the conference along with CBI, NIA, Enforcement Directorate. 


High End Skill Development Centre - India’s premier National Research Laboratory CSIR-Institute of Microbial Technology (CSIR-IMTECH) announced a new partnership with Merck, a leading German science and Technology Company, to establish a ‘High End Skill Development Centre’ in CSIR-IMTECH, Chandigarh. This ‘High End Skill Development Centre’ will enrich skills by conducting workshops, trainings and seminar.
