Signature Bridge Inaugurated - Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal inaugurated the long awaited Delhi's Signature Bridge, the first asymmetrical cable-stayed bridge in India. The bridge was constructed by the Delhi Tourism and Transport Development Corporation (DTTDC) at an expenditure of Rs 1,518.37 crore. The 675-metre bridge aims to reduce travel time and traffic congestion between the north-eastern and northern parts of Delhi.

Design of New High Court in Amaravati 
New High Court in Amaravati - The Supreme Court has given nod for a separate High Court for Andhra Pradesh and it will start functioning from January 1 next year. The new court, which will be the 25th High Court in the country, will temporarily function from a makeshift building till the permanent structure is built in the Justice City complex in Andhra’s de-facto capital Amaravati. Presently, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana have a common High Court situated at Hyderabad. The existing court will from next year be known as the Telangana High Court.

Raja Ram Mohan Roy Award - Veteran journalist and Hindu publishing group chairman N. Ram has been chosen for the prestigious Raja Ram Mohan Roy Award, presented by the Press Council of India (PCI). The award will be presented on November 16 on the occasion of the National Press Day.


Penality Against Fino Payment Bank - The Reserve Bank imposed a fine of Rs 1 crore on Fino Payments Bank for opening new accounts despite directions not to do so until further order. Earlier in May, the RBI had directed payments bank to halt account opening functions.


Operation Greens - The Union Ministry of Food Processing Industries (MoFPI) approved the operationalisation strategy for Operation Greens. The Operation Greens was announced in the Budget speech of 2018-19 with an outlay of Rs 500 crores to stabilise the supply of Tomato, Onion and Potato (TOP) crops. It will ensure availability of TOP crops throughout the country round the year without price volatility. NAFED will be the Nodal Agency to implement price stabilisation measures.


China’s First International Import Expo - India will participate in China’s first international import expo (CIIE) in Shanghai. Expo will be inaugurated by Chinese President Xi Jinping. Leaders of 18 countries, including Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan, will take part in the event.


Pune-Mumbai Hyperloop project - The Maharashtra state government has accorded the Pune-Mumbai Hyperloop project the status of ‘Public Infrastructure Project’. The Hyperloop project, a joint venture between the Maharashtra government and Virgin Hyperloop, aims to build a high-tech transport system that will connect Pune to Mumbai and reduce the time taken to travel between the two cities to 25 minutes.


Sharjah-India Business Roundtable - The ‘Sharjah-India Business Roundtable’, held in Sharjah, UAE on the sidelines of Indian-UAE Partnership Summit. The conference focused on addressing the investment opportunities spanning across emerging sectors such as technology, artificial intelligence (AI) and renewable energy.


India and Malawi Signed MoU- India and Malawi signed three MoUs on extradition, cooperation in atomic energy and visa waiver for diplomats and officials as Vice President Venkaiah Naidu met Malawian President Arthur Peter Mutharika. India also offered specialised training programmes for Malawi defence forces. India will also extend the new line of credit of USD 215.16 million. India will also construct a Mahatma Gandhi Convention Centre in Malawi.


Ayurveda Day - The Ayurveda Day was observed across India on November 5, 2018 on the occasion of the Dhanawantari Jayanti or Dhanteras with an aim to further promote Ayurveda. The theme of the 3rd Ayurveda Day was “Ayurveda for Public health”.


Turga Hydel Project - India and Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) signed loan agreement worth Rs 1817 crore for construction of Turga Pumped Storage Hydel Project. This project will contribute to Industrial Development and Living Standard Improvement in the West Bengal.


Global Conference on Air Pollution - The First WHO Global Conference on Air Pollution and Health took place at WHO headquarters in Geneva, Switzerland.


Kirloskar Capital - Kirloskar group had announced that it has received licence from the Reserve Bank to launch a non-banking finance company (NBFC), Kirloskar Capital. It will be headed by industry veteran Vimal Bhandari.


Facebook Against Fake News - Social networking giant Facebook has teamed up with news agency Agence France-Presse (AFP), expanding third-party fact-checking programme in India, as it looks to combat the spread of “fake news” on its platform ahead of general elections in 2019. 


Capital Outflow Increased - Overseas investors pulled out a massive Rs 38,900 crore (over USD 5 billion) from the capital markets in October, the steepest outflow in nearly two years, on rising crude oil prices, depreciating rupee and worsening current account deficit. With this, the total outflow from the capital markets (equity and debt together) has reached over Rs 1 lakh crore so far this year.
