Cyril Ramaphosa - Prime Minister Narendra Modi met South African President Cyril Ramaphosa on the sidelines of the G-20 summit and invited him to be the Chief Guest at the Republic Day celebrations next year, which also marks the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi. The South African leader accepted the invitation to grace the occasion.

India will Host G20 summit-2022 - Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced that India will host the G20 summit in 2022, which also happens to be the year when the country celebrates its 75th Independence Day.

Indra 18 Exercise

Indra 18 Exercise - The 10th edition of joint exercise ‘Indra 18’ between the Indian Army and Russian Army concluded recently at Babina military station Jhansi in Uttar Pradesh. The aim of the exercise was to develop interoperability between two armies to understand transnational terrorism and conduct a joint operation under the United Nations.

Conference of Parties (COP-24)

Conference of Parties (COP-24) - The 24th meeting of Conference of Parties (COP-24) to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) will be held at Katowice, Poland from 2nd December 2018 to 14th December 2018. Union Environment Minister, Dr Harsh Vardhan will be lead Indian delegation. COP-24 is very significant as it is expected to finalise guidelines for implementation of the Paris Agreement adopted in 2016.

US-Mexico-Canada Agreement

US-Mexico-Canada Agreement - US President Donald Trump, Mexican President Enrique Peña Nieto, and Canadian PM Justin Trudeau signed the new US-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA) which will replace the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA). USMCA will govern over a trillion dollars worth of trade between the three countries. They signed an authorization for the deal in Buenos Aires on the sidelines of the Group of 20 summit.

Hornbill Festival and Nagaland Statement Day - Home Minister Rajnath Singh inaugurated 19th Hornbill Festival in Nagaland on 55th Nagaland Statehood Day 1st December. In 1963, Nagaland attains its statehood and was declared as the 16th state. US Ambassador to India Kenneth I Juster was invited as the guest of honour.

World AIDS Day - World AIDS Day is designated on 1 December every year. The day provides an opportunity for people worldwide to unite in the fight against HIV. The theme for the World AIDS Day 2018 is “Know Your Status”. Indian government is committed to achieve the target of making India AIDS-free by 2030.

Fiscal Deficit Widened

Fiscal Deficit Widened - The Centre’s fiscal deficit in the first seven months of this fiscal came in at Rs 6.5 lakh crore or 103.9% of the full-year target, largely due to slower-than-projected growth in revenue, especially indirect tax and disinvestment receipts, according to data released by the Controller General of Accounts.

Emergency Response Support System, ERSS

Emergency Response Support System (ERSS) - Nagaland became the first state in the Northeast and second in the country after Himachal Pradesh to launch a pan-India single-number Emergency Response Support System (ERSS) which will have a special women safety feature ‘SHOUT’ for immediate assistance from police and volunteers. SHOUT feature has been made available exclusively for women in the ‘112 India’ mobile app which is connected to the ERSS.


Brahmos - Defence Ministry approved military procurement worth Rs 3,000 crore. The procurement includes Brahmos supersonic cruise missiles for Navy’s two stealth frigates and Armoured Recovery Vehicles (ARVs) for the Army’s Arjun main battle tanks.
