Urjit Patel ­- Urjit Patel resigned as the Governor of the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) with immediate effect, citing personal reasons. Patel’s three-year term was to end in September 2019. N.S. Vishwanathan, who is the seniormost among the four Deputy Governors, has been given charge till the government finds a successor.

Vijay Mallya - The UK court ordered the extradition of Indian business tycoon and liquor baron Vijay Mallya from Britain to India to face charges of fraud filed against him. India has been seeking the businessman’s extradition on charges of fraud and money laundering amounting to almost Rs 9,000 crore. He has been on bail since his arrest in Britain.

Agni-V Missile Test Fired - India successfully test-fired nuclear-capable long-range ballistic missile Agni-V. The missile was launched from a canister on a road mobile-launcher from Dr. Abdul Kalam Island off Odisha. This is the third successful launch of Agni-V this year. Agni-V is an Inter-Continental Ballistic Missile (ICBM) with a strike range of over 5,000 km and can reach most parts of China.

SEBI Relaxed Norms for Starts Up - The Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) passed a slew of relaxations for start-ups in sectors like e-commerce, data analytics and bio-technology to raise funds and list them on stock exchanges. The proposed changes include renaming the 'Institutional Trading Platform' (ITP) of start-ups’ listings as 'Innovators Growth Platform'. The relaxation came in the wake of demands from various stakeholders to make the norms easier and the platform more accessible considering the expanding activities in the Indian start-up space.
