Dan David Prize 2019 - Indian historian Sanjay Subrahmanyam won the prestigious Dan David Prize 2019 for his work on inter-cultural encounters between Asians, Europeans and people of North and South America during the early modern era. He won the Israel's prestigious USD 1 million dollar award in the category of ''Past Time Dimension'' for his work in macro history.

Swachh Shakti Awards - Prime Minister Narendra Modi gave away the Swachh Shakti awards to woman sarpanches from across the country in Swach Shakti 2019 programme during his visit to Kurukshetra, Haryana. The Prime Minister also dedicated the India’s premier institute of cancer, the ‘National Cancer Institute’ of Bhadsa, Jhajjar to the nation. The National Cancer Institute is built at the AIIMS Jhajjar campus.

International Financial Services Center Authority Bill - The government introduced a Bill to set up a unified authority for regulating all financial services in international financial services centres (IFSCs) in the country. The International Financial Services Center Authority Bill, 2019 mandates transaction of financial services in the IFCS shall be governed by an Authority headed by a Chairman.

New Authority - Currently, banking, capital markets and insurance sectors in IFSCs are regulated by multiple regulators — the RBI, Sebi and Irdai — and this would provide inter-regulatory coordination. Regulatory bodies including RBI, SEBI, IRDA, PFRDI would have one nominee as its member, while the Finance Ministry will have rights to nominate two officials in the Authority. The Chairperson and a member shall hold offices for a term of three year from the date on which he enters upon his office and shall be eligible for reappointment.

Emergency Response Support System - The first phase of all-India launch of the Emergency Response Support System (ERSS) will start from February 19. The project is meant for those in distress, mainly women, so that they can send out distress signals along with their location details to the nearest police control room, by pressing a button in their mobile phones. The project for a pan-India emergency number 112 linked to emergency support services will be launched jointly by the Ministry of Home Affairs and the Ministry of Women & Child Development (WCD). The project is being financed using Rs 321.69 crore from the Nirbhaya Fund scheme.
