Committee on GST - Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Sushil Modi will head the seven-member committee to look into revenue shortfall being faced by the states after the GST roll-out, and suggest steps for augmenting collections. Several states including Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Chattisgarh, Uttarakhand, Jammu and Kashmir, Odisha, Goa, Bihar, Gujarat and Delhi are facing revenue shortfall in the range of 14-37 per cent in the April-November period. Among the union territories, Puducherry is facing maximum shortfall of 43 per cent. Out of 31 states, only Andhra Pradesh and five north eastern states — Mizoram, Andhra Pradesh, Manipur, Sikkim and Nagaland — have recorded revenue increase post the GST roll out.

This was part of a joint statement issued at the end of the first ever meeting of the India-Central Asia Dialogue. External affairs minister Sushma Swaraj along with the foreign ministers of Afghanistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyz Republic, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan took part in the meeting.

Single Use Plastic Ban in Puducherry - Puducherry Chief Minister V Narayanasamy said that the cabinet has decided to ban single-use plastic products in the Union Territory from March 1. Tamil Nadu government had already announced that it would ban the use of plastic items including non-biodegradable carry bags from January 1, 2019 to "gift a plastic-free state to future generations".

Rs 350 commemorative Coin with the standard weight of 35 gram will bears the rupee symbol with 350 value below the Lion Capital. The reverse side bears the picture of “Takht Shri Harimandir Ji Patna Sahib”.

Technology Centres for MSME - The Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) will develop 20 technology centres, along with extension centres across the country in another 3-5 years. These centres would come up at an investment of Rs 200 crore each. There are plans to have about 100 extension centres, each at an investment of Rs 20 crore. They have modern technology machinery and testing equipment and the services are offered to industries at a competitive price.
