Vayu Shakti-2019 - Lethal capability of the Indian Air Force were displayed in front of the world when diplomats and senior officers and other dignitaries watched the “Vayu Shakti-2019” being held in the Pokhran field firing range of Jaisalmer. Indigenous aircraft weapons and equipment are participating in the day/dusk Vayu Shakti Fire power exercise.

Committee on Minimum Wages - The Expert Committee led by Anoop Satpathy submitted its report on “Determining the Methodology for Fixation of the National Minimum Wage” to the Government. It recommended the fixation of need-based National Minimum Wage (NMW) for India at Rs 375 per day or Rs 9,750 per month irrespective of sectors, skills, occupations and rural-urban locations for a family comprising of 3.6 consumption units. The Present NMW is Rs. 4,576.

India Hiked Custom Duty - India hiked the basic customs duty on all goods imported from Pakistan to 200 per cent with immediate effect. This comes a day after India withdrew the ‘most-favoured nation’ status to Pakistan following the dastardly attack on security forces. The move would impact USD 488.5 million worth of goods that Pakistan exports to India.

SPHEREx Mission - NASA has announced a new space telescope mission dedicated to understanding the origins of life and the universe. It's called the ‘Spectro-Photometer for the History of the Universe, Epoch of Reionization and Ices Explorer’ or SPHEREx, for short. The space agency is aiming for a 2023 launch.

Amazon Pay Unified Payments Interface - Amazon launched "Amazon Pay Unified Payments Interface (UPI)" for Android users in partnership with Axis Bank to issue UPI IDs to its customers in India. With this, users would be able to use their Amazon Pay UPI ID to shop on Amazon.in, make payments for their daily purchases, including recharge and bill payments, without entering bank account or debit card credentials.

Foreign Minister Visited Bulgaria, Morocco and Spain - External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj embarked on a four-day visit to Bulgaria, Morocco and Spain. Mrs Swaraj will visit to Bulgaria on the first leg of the tour. The Spanish government will also confer upon Mrs Swaraj the Grand Cross of the Order of Civil Merit for India's swift response through Operation Maitri in rescuing 71 Spanish nationals from Nepal in 2015 in the wake of the disastrous earthquake.

World Employment and Social Outlook Trends - The International Labour Organization released World Employment and Social Outlook Trends 2019 report. As per the report, unemployment rates will fall to 4.9% in 2019 and remains steady in 2020. Among the age group 15-24 the global unemployment stood at 11.8% which is much higher than it is among other age groups. In the global labor market, 2 billion out of 3.3 billion people worked keeping their economic security at risk in informal employment.

US And Canada Filed Case Against India - The US and Canada said they have jointly approached the World Trade Organisation (WTO) against India for allegedly “under-reporting” market price support for five varieties of pulses. “Based on United States/Canadian calculations, it appears that India has substantially underreported its market price support for chickpeas, pigeon peas, black matpe, mung beans and lentils,” a US Department of Agriculture release stated.
