Trump Cancelled WEF Meeting - President Donald Trump has cancelled the US delegation's trip to the annual meeting of the World Economic Forum (WEF) at Davos, Switzerland, due to the partial government shutdown. The announcement comes as the shutdown entered its 27th day on 18 January.

Alphons attended the Seventh Meeting of Tourism Ministers of ASEAN and India held in Ha Long City, Viet Nam. As a follow up to the Summit, the Ministers launched the ASEAN-India Tourism Cooperation Year 2019.

National Museum of Indian Cinema - Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the National Museum of Indian Cinema (NMIC) in Mumbai. The development of the Museum was guided by the Museum Advisory Committee headed by Shyam Benegal. An innovation Committee headed by Prasoon Joshi provided an upgrade to the NMIC. Built at a cost of Rs 140.61 crore, the museum depicts the journey of over a century of Indian cinema in a story telling mode with the help of visuals, graphics, artifacts, interactive exhibits and multimedia expositions.

Shehri Samridhi Utsav - Hardeep S. Puri, Minister of State for Housing and Urban Affairs informed that a series of events named ‘Shehri Samridhi Utsav’ will begin from 1 February to 15 February. The event will focus on urban livelihoods and extending the outreach of National Urban Livelihoods Mission (DAY-NULM) to the poorest of the poor and the most vulnerable.

Pradhan Mantri Rozgar Protsahan Yojana - The Pradhan Mantri Rozgar Protsahan Yojana (PMRPY) crossed the milestone of one crore beneficiaries. The scheme is being implemented by the Union Ministry of Labour and Employment through the Employees’ Provident Fund Organization (EPFO). Under the scheme, Government is paying full employers’ contribution of 12 percent towards Employees’ Provident Fund and Employees’ Pension Scheme both for a period of 3 years. The new employees who are registered with the EPFO on or after April 1, 2016, with salary up to Rs. 15,000 per month are covered under the scheme.
