Christina Koch - National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) announced that astronaut Christina Koch is going to have her mission on the International Space Station (ISS) extended to 328 days. She would set a record for the longest single spaceflight by a woman. Christina Koch will remain in space until February 2020 that will complete her 328 days stay in ISS. She will break the record for the single longest spaceflight by a woman of 288 days set by retired astronaut Peggy Whitson in 2016-17.

Indian Asked to Leave Tripoli - External affairs minister Sushma Swaraj asked the Indian nationals in Tripoli to "leave immediately" after violence for the control of the Libyan capital escalated. Over 200 people were killed in Tripoli in the last two weeks since renegade Libyan military commander Khalifa Haftar's troops launched a strike to oust UN-backed Prime Minister Fayez al-Sarraj from power.

International Fleet Review - The Indian Navy has sent two ships to take part in the International Fleet Review to be held in Qingdao, China, later this month as part of the 70th anniversary celebrations of the People’s Liberation Army Navy. The ships are stealth destroyer INS Kolkata and fleet tanker INS Shakti.

Coalition for Disaster Resilient Infrastructure - Giving a major diplomatic push to the proposed global 'Coalition for Disaster Resilient Infrastructure' (CDRI), an Indian initiative on the lines of Solar Alliance of 120 countries, New Delhi has pledged Rs 480 crore for setting up of a secretariat here for the new grouping. The initiative has the support of UN and World Bank apart from other multilateral development banks. Among 33 countries which have already supported the Indian initiative, Italy, UK, Australia, South Africa and European Union have agreed to fund the new organisation set to be declared at the UN Climate Summit, scheduled in September at UN headquarters.

Single Emergency Helpline Number - Twenty states and Union territories have so far joined a pan-India network of single emergency helpline number ‘112’ on which immediate assistance can be sought by anyone in distress. The ‘112’ helpline is an integration of police (100), fire (101) and women (1090) helpline numbers and the project is being implemented under the central government’s Nirbhaya Fund. The Emergency Response Support System (ERSS) envisages a single pan-India emergency number ‘112’, which is an internationally recognised number, to target all types of emergencies.

New High Commissioner of South Africa and Lebanon - Jaideep Sarkar has been appointed as India's next High Commissioner to South Africa. Sarkar, a 1987-batch Indian Foreign Service officer, is currently serving as India's ambassador in Bhutan. The government also appointed Suhel Ajaz Khan, presently serving as India's Deputy Chief of Mission in Saudi Arabia, as next Ambassador to Lebanon.

UN Honoured Indian Peacekeepers - The UN Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS) honoured 150 Indian peacekeepers, serving the mission, with Medals of Honour for their supreme dedication and sacrifices in Malakal, South Sudan. Colonel Amit Gupta was among the recipients of the medal of honour. Gupta commands a battalion of 850 soldiers in the Upper Nile region of South Sudan.
