Rishi Kumar Shukla - The High-Level Committee chaired by Prime Minister approved the appointment of Rishi Kumar Shukla as the CBI Director. Mr. Shukla, a 1983-batch IPS officer of the Madhya Pradesh cadre, has been appointed for a two-year term.He will take over from M. Nageshwar Rao, who took charge as the interim director from Alok Kumar Verma on October 24.

Assault Rifles For Indian Army - In a major move towards infantry modernisation, the Defence Ministry has cleared a long-pending proposal of the Army to procure around 73,000 assault rifles from the US under fast track mode. Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman approved procurement of the Sig Sauer rifles which will be used by troops deployed along the nearly 3,600-km border with China. The US firm will have to deliver the rifles within one year from the date of finalising the deal.

China Provided Loan to Pakistan - China will provide 2.5 billion dollars (USD) loans to Pakistan to boost the foreign exchange reserves. Pakistan is currently seeing depleted foreign cash reserves and mounting external debt. The country's USD 8.12 billion reserves are below the minimum level that the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank (WB) prescribe. Due to this, the WB and the Asian Development Bank are not providing loans for budget financing.
