Congress Announced Minimum Income Guarantee Scheme - The President of the Indian National Congress, Rahul Gandhi announced a minimum income guarantee scheme if voted to power. In this scheme 20 per cent of the families who earn below Rs 12000 monthly will be given Rs 72000 annually in their bank accounts. The minimum income support proposal will be called Nyuntam Aay Yojana (NYAY). The scheme is expected to directly benefit around 5 crore families and 25 crore people. The scheme is similar to the global concept of Universal Basic Income (UBI), which has been implemented in several nations.

Pakistan Approved Corridor For Sharda Peeth - The Pakistan government approved a proposal to establish a corridor that will allow Hindu pilgrims from India to visit Sharda Peeth, an ancient Hindu temple and cultural site in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir. The Sharda Peeth corridor, when opened, will be the second religious tract after Kartarpur corridor in Pakistan-controlled territory that will connect the two neighbouring nations.

Sharda Peeth Temple - Established in 237 BC during the reign of Ashoka, the 5,000-year-old Sharda Peeth is an abandoned temple and ancient centre of learning dedicated to the Hindu goddess of learning. Between the 6th and 12th centuries CE, Sharda Peeth was one of the foremost temple universities of the Indian subcontinent. Work on the project will start from the current year after which Hindus in Pakistan will also be able to visit the site.

Chinook Helicopters Inducted in Indian Air Force - The first batch of four Boeing heavy-lift Chinook Helicopters, CH-47F (I) was inducted in Indian Air Force (IAF) on March 25, 2019 at Air Force Station, Chandigarh. The Chinook helicopters arrived at the Mundra airport in Gujarat from the United States on February 10, 2019. These multirole helicopters will be used in life-saving role during Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief (HADR) missions. In 2015, India had signed a $3.1bn contract with Boeing for the procurement of 22 AH-64E Apache attack, and 15 CH-47F(I) Chinook transport helicopters.

Nuclear, Biological and Chemical Training Facility - The Indian Navy's Nuclear, Biological and Chemical Training Facility (NBCTF) was inaugurated at INS Shivaji in Lonavala near Pune by chief of Naval Staff Admiral Sunil Lanba. The NBCTF, christened "Abhedya", Sanksrit for impenetrable, will help train personnel of naval ships fitted with nuclear, biological and chemical detection and protection systems. It will provide realistic training to naval personnel in detection, protection against and decontamination of nuclear, biological and chemical agents.

List of World’s Busiest Airports By Passenger Traffic Ranking - In accordance with the preliminary world airport traffic rankings for 2018 released by Airports Council International (ACI), Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGIA) of New Delhi has elevated 4 ranks to reach at 12th spot in terms of the busiest airport as compared to 2017’s 16th spot. The list of world’s busiest airports by passenger traffic ranking has been topped by Hartsfield–Jackson Atlanta International Airport (US) followed by Beijing Capital International Airport (China) and Dubai International Airport (UAE).

Global Energy Transition Index - India has jumped two positions to be ranked 76th on World Economic Forum’s global Energy Transition index. The annual list, released by the Geneva-based forum, ranks 115 economies on their ability to balance energy security and access with environmental sustainability and affordability. Sweden retained its top spot on the list, followed by Switzerland and Norway in the second and third positions respectively.

Jet Airways Founder And Chairman Resigned - Jet Airways Founder and Chairman Naresh Goyal and his wife Anita Goyal resigned from the board amid the reports of looming financial crisis in the airlines. However, the CEO of Jet Airways, Vinay Dube will stay on to steer. Another Director Kevin Knight, Etihad’s nominee, also resigned from the board. His resignation indicates that Etihad may not continue with the investment in the company. UAE based Etihad, having 24 percent stake, is the second equity partner in Jet Airways. Earlier Jet Airways on January 1, 2019 informed the stock exchanges that it had defaulted on its loan repayments to banks.

Pakistan Received Financial Assistance - China pumped-in USD 2.2 billion to cash-strapped Pakistan to shore up its close ally’s foreign currency reserves and help avert a possible default on external debt payments. Pakistan has so far received a total of USD 9.1 billion in financial assistance packages from friendly countries during the current fiscal year. While China has pumped-in USD 4.1 billion from China, Pakistan has got USD 3 billion from Saudi Arabia and USD 2 billion from United Arab Emirates (UAE).
