New Member of NATO - The North Atlantic Treaty Organisation (NATO) said that its 29 members will clear the way for Macedonia to become the alliance’s 30th member, following its historic name change. Earlier the parliamentarians of the Republic of Macedonia voted on January 11, 2019 to change their country’s name to the “Republic of North Macedonia”.

Aribam Syam Sharma - Manipur-based filmmaker and music composer Aribam Syam Sharma has decided to return his 2006 Padma Shri award in protest against the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, 2016 that the Centre wants to push through. The Bill seeks to fast-track the process of granting citizenship to non-Muslims from Afghanistan, Bangladesh and Pakistan who came to India till December 31, 2014, allegedly because of religious persecution.

The prime minister said Rs 750 crore has been granted to the state for setting up of five new medical colleges.

First University in Ladakh - Prime Minister Narendra said Ladakh now has first cluster university comprising degree colleges of Leh, Kargil, Nubra, Zanskar, Drass and Khaltsi. The university will have administrative offices in Leh and Kargil. Earlier on December 15, the Jammu and Kashmir administration had approved the establishment of first university in the Ladakh region.

Ayurveda And Naturopathy Hospital - NBCC (Formerly National Buildings Construction Corporation Limited), a Navratna Central Public Sector Enterprises, will construct an Ayurveda and Naturopathy hospital in Goa at a cost of over 267 crore rupees. A memorandum of understanding was signed with the Ministry of AYUSH in this regard.
