64 Satellite Launched by Space X

64 Satellite Launched by Space X - Elon Musk-led US space agency Space X launched India’s first privately built satellite ExseedSAT 1 along with 63 other satellites (Total 64 Satellites) from 17 countries, setting a new US record. ExseedSAT 1 is an open radio transponder that works on ham radio frequencies. Space X’s Falcon 9 reusable rocket blasted off from Vandenberg Air Force Base in California. The Falcon 9 rocket carried 15 micro-satellites and 49 CubeSats belonging to 34 different clients including public, private and university sources from 17 different countries across the world including South Korea, France and Kazakhstan.

Christian James Michel - British national Christian James Michel, wanted in the alleged Rs 3,700-crore Agusta Westland chopper deal bribery case, was extradited to India from the United Arab Emirates. Mr. Michel’s role in the purchase of 12 helicopters surfaced in 2012 as a middleman for swinging the deal in favour of AgustaWestland.

ADB Loan For Skill Development - The Centre and Asian Development Bank (ADB) have signed an 85 million dollar loan to improve skill development eco-system in Odisha.  An advanced skill training centre, the World Skill Center (WSC) will also be established in Bhubaneswar with the help of a loan.

Oil and Gas Fields For Sale - The Union Government on December 3, 2018 constituted a six-member committee headed by NITI Aayog Vice Chairman Rajiv Kumar to look at selling of 149 small and marginal oil and gas fields of state-owned the Oil and Natural Gas Corporatio (ONGC) and Oil India Limited (OIL) to private and foreign companies to boost domestic output.

India and the UAE signed Currency Swap Agreement - India and the UAE signed two agreements, including one on currency swap, as External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj held exhaustive discussions with her counterpart Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan to step up cooperation in areas like trade, security and defence. Swaraj arrived UAE on a two-day visit.

WIPO Report - The number of patents granted by India shot up by 50 per cent in 2017, keeping up a trend of steep increases, according to the UN’s World Intellectual Property Organisation (WIPO). The patents granted by India increased from 8,248 in 2016 to 12,387 last year.
