Agriculture Export Policy 
Agriculture Export Policy - Seeking to double agricultural export to USD 60 billion by 2022, the Union Cabinet Thursday approved Agriculture Export Policy, 2018 for the farm sector that imposes no restrictions on export of all organic and processed products. However, export policy for primary agricultural products, like onion, would reviewed periodically on a case-to-case basis depending on price-supply situation. Agricultural exports are currently estimated at USD 30 billion.

Strategic Sale of REC - Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) approved sale of the government’s 52.63 per cent stake in Rural Electrification Corporation (REC) Ltd to Power Finance Corporation for an estimated Rs 15,000 crore. The government held 57.99 per cent stake in REC.

National Pension Schem
National Pension Schem
National Pension Scheme - Cabinet raised the government’s contribution to National Pension Scheme (NPS) to 14 per cent of basic salary from the current 10 per cent. Minimum employee contribution will, however, remain at 10 per cent. The Cabinet also approved tax incentives under 80C of the Income Tax Act for employees’ contribution to the extent of 10 per cent. Presently, the government and employees contribute 10 per cent of basic salary each to NPS.

Nadar Malhotra, CEO, HCL Technologies is ranked 51st on the list. Mazumdar-Shaw, Founder and Chair, Biocon, is ranked 60. Shobhana Bhartia, Chairperson and Managing Director, HT Media, is ranked 88th. Priyanka Chopra comes in at the 94th spot.

India and Iran Oil Deal - India has signed an agreement with Iran to pay for crude oil it imports from the Persian Gulf nation in rupees. Indian refiners will make rupee payments in a UCO Bank account of the National Iranian Oil Co (NIOC). India is the second biggest purchaser of Iranian oil after China.

Witness Protection Scheme - The Supreme Court approved the Witness Protection Scheme 2018 and directed the Central and State Governments to enforce the same. The scheme will become ‘law’ under Article 141/142 of the Constitution till the enactment of parliamentary and state legislations.

Mukhyamantri Tirth Yatra Yojana - Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal launched the 'Mukhyamantri Tirth Yatra Yojana' which offers free travel packages for senior citizens from Delhi to five religious circuits. 1,100 senior citizens from every constituency of Delhi will be able to avail this facility at one go.

New Site Included in PRASAD Scheme - The Centre included Gangotri and Yamunotri in Uttarakhand, Amarkantak in Madhya Pradesh and Parasnath in Jharkhand under a central scheme to develop pilgrimage and heritage destinations in the country. With the new additions, the number of sites under the Pilgrimage Rejuvenation and Spiritual, Heritage Augmentation Drive (PRASAD) launched by the ministry in 2014-15 has now become 41 in 25 states.
