Appointment and Resignation

Sunil Arora - President Ram Nath Kovind appointed Sunil Arora as the new Chief Election Commissioner (CEC), replacing OP Rawat. Arora will take charge on December 2. He will have a nearly two-and-a-half-year tenure as CEC, with the General Election 2019 to be conducted under his stewardship.
Ashok Kumar Gupta - Ashok Kumar Gupta has been appointed as the Chairman of the Competition Commission of India (CCI).  His appointment has been approved by the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet.
Arvind Saxena - Arvind Saxena has been appointed as chairman of the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC). Saxena will have a tenure till August 7, 2020, when he attains the age of 65 years.
Aditya Puri - HDFC Bank had announced that the RBI had approved the re-appointment of Aditya Puri as MD and CEO of the bank for another two years. Aditya Puri will now serve the office from November 1, 2018 to October 26, 2020.
Ajay Bhushan Pandey - The central government appointed UIDAI (Unique Identification Authority of India) CEO Ajay Bhushan Pandey as new Secretary Revenue in place of Hasmukh Adhia. He will continue to hold additional charge of CEO of UIDAI and also Chairman of GST Network.
Shri A.M. Naik - Shri A.M. Naik has been appointed as Chairman of National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC). Currently Shri Naik is the Group Chairman of Larsen & Toubro Limited (L&T).
Atul Kumar Goel - Atul Kumar Goel assumed charge as Managing Director and CEO of UCO Bank. 
Gaddam Dharmendra - Senior diplomat Gaddam Dharmendra has been appointed India's Ambassador to Iran.
Narendra Singh Tomar and DV Sadananda Gowda - Following the demise of Union Minister and Karnataka BJP leader Ananth Kumar, Union minister Narendra Singh Tomar has been given the additional charge of the ministry of parliamentary affairs and DV Sadananda Gowda that of the ministry of chemicals and fertilisers. Gowda is in charge of the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation, Tomar holds the portfolio of the Ministry of Rural Development, Panchayati Raj and Mines.
Voreqe Bainimarama - Voreqe Bainimarama has Sworn in as Fiji’s Prime Minister for four more years after winning an election. Bainimarama first seized power in a military coup in 2006 and refashioned himself as a legitimate leader after winning an election in 2014.
Kim Jong Yang - Kim Jong Yang of South Korea has been elected Interpol President for a two-year term. The decision was taken at the 87th General Assembly of the Agency in Dubai.
Gafur Rakhimov - Uzbekistan's businessman Gafur Rakhimov was elected president of the International Boxing Association (AIBA).
Hima Das - United Nations Children's Fund-India (UNICEF) appointed Asian Games gold-medalist sprinter Hima Das as India’s first ever Youth Ambassador.
Abhijit Bose - WhatsApp named Abhijit Bose as its India Head. Mr. Bose will build WhatsApp’s first full country team outside of California and will be based in Gurugram. Government had asked WhatsApp to set up a local corporate presence and appoint a grievance officer to address complaints.
Joyce Msuya - Tanzanian national Joyce Msuya was appointed as acting Executive Director of United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) following the resignation of the executive director Erik Solheim.
Erik Solheim - UN Environment Chief Erik Solheim resigned from his post on November 20, 2018 following an audit report questioning his huge travel expenses. 
Nahid Afrin - Popular Indian singer Nahid Afrin of Assam has been appointed as the first 'Youth Advocate' of the north-eastern region by the UNICEF to fight for child rights. 
Millie Bobby Brown - United Nations children’s agency UNICEF appointed Millie Bobby Brown, the star of hit Netflix series “Stranger Things”, as its youngest ever goodwill ambassador.
Brian Kwon - LG Electronics has announced that it has appointed Brian Kwon as the new president. Brian Kwon is head of LG's home entertainment business, from December 1.
Mary Kom - Olympic bronze medalist and five-time World Champion, MC Mary Kom has been named as the brand ambassador of the 10th edition of the Women's World Championship in New Delhi.
S S Deswal - The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) appointed senior IPS officer S S Deswal as Director General of Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP).
India Elected for ITU - India has been elected as a Member of the International Telecommunications Union (ITU) Council for another 4-year term (2019-2022).
Paul Polman - Anglo-Dutch consumer goods company Unilever said its CEO Paul Polman was retiring and would be replaced by the head of its beauty unit Alan Jope from January 1. 
Binny Bansal - Chief Executive Officer and co-founder of Flipkart Group Binny Bansal has stepped down from his post after facing allegations of serious personal misconduct.

Awards and Honours

Abhinav Bindra - Ace Indian shooter Abhinav Bindra was awarded the coveted International Shooting Sport Federation (ISSF) Blue Cross. The Blue Cross is the highest recognition conferred by the parent body of international shooting, the ISSF. Bindra is the first Indian to be awarded the Blue Cross.
Nawazuddin Siddiqui - Asia Pacific Screen Award (APSA) 2018 for Best Performance by an Actor (Male) went to for Manto in Brisbane, Australia. 
Nandita Das - Filmmaker Nandita Das will be honoured with the International Federation of Film Producers Associations (FIAPF) Award at the 12th Asia Pacific Screen Awards (APSA) in Brisbane.
Indira Gandhi Prize - Centre for Science and Environment (CSE) has won this year's Indira Gandhi Prize for Peace, Disarmament and Development. The international jury for the awards was headed by former President Pranab Mukherjee.
Dan Wolman - Israeli filmmaker Dan Wolman was presented the Lifetime Achievement Award at the inaugural ceremony of the 49th edition of the International Film Festival of India (IFFI) 2018 in Goa. Israel is the Country of Focus for this year’s IFFI while the State in Focus is Jharkhand.
Raja Ram Mohan Roy Award - Veteran journalist and Hindu publishing group chairman N. Ram has been chosen for the prestigious Raja Ram Mohan Roy Award, presented by the Press Council of India (PCI).
London Press Freedom Award - Swati Chaturvedi, author of the book 'I am a Troll: Inside the Secret World of the BJP's Digital Army', has bagged the 2018 London Press Freedom Award for Courage.
Golden Peacock award - Ukrainian film Donbass, directed by Sergei Loznitsa, won the coveted Golden Peacock award at the 49th International Film Festival of India (IFFI). Lijo Jose Pellissery won the Silver Peacock for Best Director for the Malayalam film Ee.Ma.Yau. The Best Actor (Male) Award went to Chemban Vinod, while Anastasiia Pustovit won the Best Actor (Female) Award. Milko Lazarov walked away with the Special Jury Award for his film Aga.
Forbes India Leadership Awards - Azim Premji, chairman of Wipro, has won Forbes India Leadership Awards 2018, Lifetime Achievement. He was also awarded Chevalier de la Legion d'Honneur (Knight of the Legion of Honour) -- the highest French civilian distinction.
World Record in Ayodhya - A new world record was set in the holy city of Ayodhya on the eve of Diwali with over three lakh ‘diyas’ or earthen lamps lit up simultaneously on the banks of the Saryu river. Guinness World Records, made the announcement that the record was created at the Deepotsav event on the ghats.
Atal Bihari Vajpayee International Cricket Stadium - The newly-built Ekana International Stadium of Lucknow was renamed after former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee. The stadium will now be known as 'Bharat Ratna Atal Bihari Vajpayee International Cricket Stadium'.
UNESCO Asia-Pacific Awards for Cultural Heritage Conservation - The LAMO Centre of Ladakh won the 2018 UNESCO Asia-Pacific Awards for Cultural Heritage Conservation. The centre won the ‘Award of Distinction’ for its systematic restoration project that used local building materials and indigenous construction techniques.
Special Mention Under UNESCO Asia-Pacific Awards - Two Mumbai projects fetched Honourable Mention under the 2018 UNESCO Asia-Pacific Awards. These two projects are Rajabai Clock Tower & University of Mumbai Library Building of Mumbai; and Ruttonsee Muljee Jetha Fountain, both belonging to the colonial-era.
Rs 75 Commemorative Coin - The government decided to release a Rs 75 commemorative coin on the occasion of 75th anniversary of the hoisting of Tricolour for the first time by Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose at Port Blair. This 35-gram coin will bear the portrait of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose saluting the flag on the background of cellular jail. 
Shantanu Narayen - Indian-American Shantanu Narayen, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Adobe, has been named by Fortune in its 2018 Business Person of the Year list. Narayen ranks 12th on the list, which has been topped by CEO of insurance company Progressive Tricia Griffith. 
International Green Apple Award - Manipal Academy of Higher Education won silver in the International Green Apple Award for Environmental best practice 2018.
Mexican Order of the Aztec Eagle - JNU's Hispanic Studies professor Shyama Prasad Ganguly has won Mexico's highest civilian honor “Orden Mexicana del Águila Azteca” (Mexican Order of the Aztec Eagle) accorded to foreign nationals. 
Asia Environment Enforcement Award - The United Nations Environment has awarded India’s Wildlife Crime Control Bureau (WCCB) with the Asia Environment Enforcement Award, 2018. 
Atal Bihari Vajpayee Airport - The Uttarakhand Cabinet approved a proposal to rename Dehradun’s Jolly Grant Airport after former prime minister late Atal Bihari Vajpayee.
Reward for Mumbai Attack - United States announced a $5 million reward for information leading to the arrest or conviction in any country of any individual who committed and conspired the 2008 Mumbai attack. The Trump administration announced this major reward on the 10th anniversary of the terror attack (26 November 2018).
Pather Panchali - Satyajit Ray's epic masterpiece film 'Pather Panchali' has been included in BBC's 100 best foreign language films list. Ray's film, released in 1955, was placed at number 15 in the list, which has been topped by Akira Kurosawa's 'Seven Samurai'.
Christian James Michel - Dubai’s highest court approved India’s request for the extradition of British businessman Christian James Michel, wanted in the Agusta Westland scam case which involved alleged money laundering, commercial fraud and bribery.
Aung San Suu Kyi - Amnesty International stripped Myanmar’s leader Aung San Suu Kyi of its highest honour, the ‘Ambassador of Conscience’ award, over her indifference to atrocities committed by the Myanmar military against and increasing intolerance of freedom of expression.

Person on Visit

Indian President will Visit Vietnam and Australia - President Ram Nath Kovind will be on a week-long state visit to Vietnam and Australia. On the first leg of his tour, he will leave for Vietnam on 18 November. This is the first ever visit to Australia of any Indian President. 
Prime Minister visited Maldives - Prime Minister Modi held talks with new Maldivian President Ibrahim Mohamed Soli after attending his swearing-in ceremony. This is Modi’s first visit to the Maldives as prime minister. 
Prime Minister will Visit Singapore - Prime Minister Narendra Modi will attend the Regional Economic Cooperation Partnership (RCEP) meeting and the ASEAN summit in Singapore and hold talks with Singapore Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong. Modi will also attend the East Asia Summit (EAS). The Prime Minister will launch a platform to connect Indian Fintech companies with ASEAN banks and financial institutions.
Vice President Will Visit France - Vice President of India, Shri M. Venkaiah Naidu will be visiting Paris from 9 to 11 November 2018 in the activities commemorating the centenary of the Armistice of World War I.
Vice President on African Tour - The Vice President M. Venkaiah Naidu embarked on his first Africa visit. In his weeklong visit, he will visit Botswana, Zimbabwe and Malawi. On the 1st leg, Vice President will reach Botswana’s capital Gaborone to attend the 13th Annual Global Expo. On the 2nd leg he will visit Zimbabwe and on the last leg, he will visit Malawi. 
Vice President Visited Zimbabwe - India may soon start buying diamonds directly from Zimbabwe, as MoU was signed in the presence of Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu in Harare. India also promised more $350 million line of credit for three power and water projects to Zimbabwe, which is in addition to the loans of more than $100 million extended to the country.
Sushma Swaraj Will Visit UAE - Smt. Sushma Swaraj, External Affairs Minister would be leading Indian delegation to the United Arab Emirates from 03-04 December, 2018 for co-chairing the 12th session of the India-UAE Joint Commission Meeting for Economic and Technical Cooperation with Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Foreign Minister of the UAE.
Sushma Swaraj Visited Laos - External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj is on a 2-day visit to Laos. During her visit, Ms Swaraj will co-chair the 9th Meeting of India-Laos Joint Commission on Bilateral Co-operation with her counterpart.
Army Chief Will Visit Vietnam - Army chief General Bipin Rawat is now headed for Hanoi, Vietnam soon after President Ram Nath Kovind concluded his Vietnam visit. Gen Rawat will hold talks with Vietnamese defence minister General Ngo Xuan Lich.
Admiral Sunil Lanba - Admiral Sunil Lanba, Chief of the Naval Staff is visiting Russia from 26 to 29 November 2018. The visit aims to consolidate bilateral defence relations with Russia, as also to explore new avenues for defence cooperation.
Mr. Regis Immongault - Minister of Foreign Affairs, Republic of Gabon, Mr. Regis Immongault visited India. Both Countries will work together in sectors like logistics, infrastructure, energy, water, agriculture, services and tourism.
Foreign Minister of Romania Arrived India - Foreign Minister of Romania Teodor Melescanu arrived in New Delhi on a four-day visit to India. India and Romania celebrate 70 years of establishment of diplomatic relations this year. 
Maldivian Foreign Minister Visited India - Maldivian Foreign Minister Abdulla Shahid has arrived in New Delhi on a four-day visit to India. The Maldivian Foreign Minister is visiting India with the aim to repair the bilateral ties which came under severe strain during the previous government in the island nation. 
Dharmendra Pradhan Visited UAE - Minister of Petroleum and Natural Gas Dharmendra Pradhan is on a two-day visit to UAE. He discussed areas of cooperation with UAE in areas of Skill development of Indian people working in UAE.
Pakistan Prime Minster visited China - China backed Pakistan for trying to resolve “outstanding issues” with India through dialogue, and appeared to support Islamabad on two other key topics — the expansion of the Nuclear Suppliers Group (NSG) and counter-terrorism. The statement, issued at the end of the Beijing leg of Pakstain Prime Minister Imran Khan.

Person Died

Ananth Kumar - Union Minister for Parliamentary Affairs, Ananth Kumar passed away in Bengaluru. A senior BJP leader from Karnataka, Ananth Kumar represented the Bengaluru South parliamentary constituency six times in Lok Sabha since 1996. 
Kuldip Singh Chandpuri - Kuldip Singh Chandpuri, known as the hero of the Battle of Longewala during the 1971 Indo-Pak war, died. Brig Chandpuri was a recipient of the Maha Vir Chakra — the country’s second-highest gallantry award — for his role at Longewala, an outpost in the Thar desert of Rajasthan. The movie ‘Border’ also based on 1971 Indo-Pak war.
CK Jaffer Sharief - Veteran Congress leader and former railway minister CK Jaffer Sharief died in Bengaluru. A seven-time Lok Sabha member, Sharief, became the railway minister during 1991 to 1995 in PV Narasimha Rao's cabinet.
Ustad Imrat Khan - Indian classical music stalwart Ustad Imrat Khan, who dedicated his life to propagating the Sitar and the surbahar worldwide, passed in the United States. Imrat Khan famously turned down the Padma Shri last year saying the recognition had come too late and diminished his achievements. 
Mohammed Aziz - Playback singer Mohammed Aziz passed away following a cardiac arrest. Aziz was part of the music industry for the past three decades. He did playback singing in Hindi, Bengali and Odia films.
Stan Lee - Stan Lee, person behind Spider-Man, Iron Man, the Hulk and a convoy of other Marvel Comics superheroes that became mythic figures in pop culture, died.
Devadas Mallya Mangalore - InterGlobe Aviation, which operates the country’s largest airline IndiGo, said its Chairman Devadas Mallya Mangalore passed away. He had also served as Chairman and MD of Bank of Baroda and Bank of Maharashtra.
Bernardo Bertolucci - Italian film-maker Bernardo Bertolucci, who won Oscars with “The Last Emperor” and whose erotic drama “Last Tango in Paris” enthralled and shocked the world, died.
Alyque Padamsee - Alyque Padamsee, widely called the Brand Father of Indian advertising, died. Mr Padamsee was also best known for his role as Muhammad Ali Jinnah in 1982 historical drama "Gandhi". He was honored with Padmashri in 2000.

Summit / Conference / Festival / Meeting

33rd ASEAN Summit - The 33rd edition of the ASEAN Summit began in Singapore. Prime Minister of Singapore Lee Hsien Loong is the Chairman of the Summit, which will continue till 15th November along with other related summits like East Asia Summit (EAS), Regional Comprehensive Economic Summit, (RCEP) and ASEAN plus summits. Opening Ceremony of the summit will take place on 13 November.
Prime Minister Attended ASEAN Summit - Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to attend the East Asia Summit and Associated meetings of ASEAN on 14th and 15th November in Singapore. He will address the audience during the Fintech Conference. Fintech Conference is a part of Fintech festival which kicks off on 12 November. 
G20 Summit - 13th G20 Summit 2018 began on November 28, 2018 in the city of Buenos Aires, Argentina. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be representing India at the Summit. President Mauricio Macri of Argentina assumed the presidency of G20 for one year during an official ceremony.
Trilateral Meeting of India, Japan and US - Prime Minister Narendra Modi, US President Donald Trump and Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe met for their first trilateral meeting on the sidelines of the G20 summit to discuss major issues of global and multilateral interests. Modi said, "The 'JAI' (Japan, America, India) meeting is dedicated to democratic values ...'JAI' stands for victory (in Hindi)."
BRICS Informal Meeting - Prime Minister Narendra Modi participated in the BRICS leaders’ informal meeting on the sidelines of the G20 Summit in Argentina’s Buenos Aires. The prime minister also underlined that BRICS nations have to talk in one voice for the interest of developing nations in the United Nations and other multilateral organisations.
Meeting of Indian Prime Ministers and Chinese President - China was looking to boost agricultural exports to India while increasing imports of rapeseed and soymeal from the country, President Xi Jinping told Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the sidelines of a G20 meeting.
Meeting of Indian Prime Ministers and Saudi Arab Prince - Saudi Arabia has offered India to supply oil and petroleum products it needs to meet its growing energy demands during a meeting between Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz and Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The two leaders met at Salman's residence in the Argentinian capital Buenos Aires on the sidelines of the G-20 summit.
APEC Summit - The Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit was held in Port Moresby, Papua New Guinean capital. This is the first time Papua New Guinea (PNG), the poorest of the 21 countries in APEC, has hosted the summit.
General Conference on Weights and Measures - The 26th meeting of the General Conference on Weights and Measures (CGPM) was held during November 13-16 2018 at Palais des Congrés, Versailles, France. CGPM is the highest international body of the world for accurate and precise measurements. The so-called “Grand K” kilogram, a cylinder of polished platinum-iridium alloy that has been the world’s sole true kilo since 1889, is to be retired. CGPM approved the use of a scientific formula to define the exact weight of a kilogram. The new definitions will come into force on 20 May 2019. Likewise, the definition of meter has been changed to link it to the speed of light. There is a change in the definition of time also. The CGPM comprises 60 countries including India and 42 Associate Members.
BASIC Meeting - Forging a common ground ahead of the UN climate conference, negotiators of BASIC (comprising Brazil, South Africa, India and China) group listed their priorities under the Paris Agreement Work Programme. Meeting of BASIC Foreign ministers held in New Delhi.
International Film Festival of India - The 49th International Film Festival of India (IFFI) will begin at Panaji in Goa. While Israel is the focus country, Jharkhand is the focus state this year. Veteran Israeli filmmaker Dan Wolman will be given the Lifetime Achievement Award this year. 
Reflections on Ease of Doing Business - Addressing India Inc at ‘Reflections on Ease of Doing Business’ programme in New Delhi Prime Minister Narendra Modi has set an ambitious deadline of December-end to implement as many business reforms as possible on the ground so that India could break into the top 50 of the World Bank Ease of Doing Business next year. 
India International Cherry Blossom Festival - The third edition of the India International Cherry Blossom Festival 2018 was held in Shillong, Meghalaya. It was inaugurated by the Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma in the presence of Japanese Ambassador to India, Kenji Hiramatsu.
India International Trade Fair - The 38th India International Trade Fair (IITF) will begin from 14 November at Pragati Maidan in New Delhi. This year the theme of the fair is - Rural Enterprises in India. Afghanistan is the Partner Country, while Nepal will be the Focus Country. Jharkhand is participating as a Partner State in the event. 
CII Agro Tech India - President of India, Shri Ram Nath Kovind, inaugurated the 13th edition of CII Agro Tech India-2018 in Chandigarh.
National Conference of Heads of Investigating Agencies - The 2nd National Conference of Heads of Investigating Agencies will be organised by the Bureau of Police Research and Development in New Delhi on November 29, 2018. 
World Conference on Lung Health - The 50th Union World Conference on Lung Health will be held in Hyderabad. The conference 'Ending the Emergency: Science, Leadership, Action' which will start in October 2019.
Agro-Vision Exhibition - 10th Agro-Vision Exhibition, central India’s biggest agricultural exhibition will be held in Nagpur. State chief minister Mr Devendra Fadanvis will inaugurate this exhibition.
Mechuka Adventure Festival - Promoting adventure tourism in Arunachal Pradesh, Bollywood superstar Salman Khan alongside MoS for Home Kiren Rijiju and CM Pema Khandu cycled in the state kicking off Mechuka Adventure Festival. Salman Khan is the ambassador of Arunachal Pradesh tourism.
India and Japan Business Festival - The Indo-Japan Business Council (IJBC), hosted KONNICHI WA PUNE - a first of its kind business festival in Pune. The festival was aimed to boost investment, promote businesses and cultural exchange between India and Japan.
International Tourism Mart - Government of India, in association with the Department of Tourism and Tripura is organizing the “International Tourism Mart” in Agartala, Tripura.
World Tolerance Summit - World Tolerance Summit 2018 was inaugurated in Dubai, UAE. The theme of the summit was ‘Prospering from Pluralism: Embracing Diversity through Innovation and Collaboration’. The summit is being held to commemorate the UNESCO - designated International Day of Tolerance on 16th November. 
Himalayan State Regional Council - NITI Aayog constituted the ‘Himalayan State Regional Council’ to ensure sustainable development of the Indian Himalayan region in New Delhi. Council will be chaired by the Dr VK Saraswat.
India-Kyrgyz Inter-Governmental Commission - The 9th Session of the India-Kyrgyz Inter-Governmental Commission on Trade, Economic, Scientific and Technological Cooperation (IK-IGC) was held in New Delhi. The IK-IGC was co-chaired by The Union Minister for Commerce & Industry and Civil Aviation, Suresh Prabhu and his counterpart.
World Customs Organisation - Four-day regional meeting of World Customs Organisation (WCO) was held in Jaipur, Rajasthan. It was attended by representatives of 33 member countries of Asia. 
Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit - UAE will participate in the 'Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit', as a partner country. Summit is scheduled to be held in Gandhinagar, Gujarat from January 18 2019.
India-EU Annual Counter-Terrorism and Political Dialogue - India and European Union have vowed to step up cooperation in effectively dealing with terrorism, extremism and radicalisation. The issue figured prominently during India-EU annual counter-terrorism and political dialogue in Brussels.
Quadrilateral Security Dialogue - The third round of Quadrilateral Security Dialogue, or Quad, comprising India, the US, Japan and Australia will be held this week in Singapore on the sidelines of the East Asia Summit (EAS). While larger goal of Quad is to balance China in the Indo-Pacific region.
Indian Ocean Rim Association - The 18th Indian Ocean Rim Association (IORA) Council of Ministers Meeting was held in Durban, South Africa.  VK Singh, Minister of State for External Affairs, attended the IORA Council of Ministers Meeting.
Global Cooling Innovation Summit - The Global Cooling Innovation Summit was inaugurated by Union Environment Minister Dr Harsh Vardhan in New Delhi. Dr Harsh Vardhan announced the launch of the Global Cooling Prize, an international competition to incentivize the development of a residential cooling technology.

New High Court in Amaravati - The Supreme Court has given nod for a separate High Court for Andhra Pradesh in Amaravati and it will start functioning from January 1 next year. The new court will be the 25th High Court in the country. Presently, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana have a common High Court situated at Hyderabad.
Justice City - Andhra Pradesh is building India's first 'Justice City' within its new capital Amaravati. Justice City will provide the necessary infrastructure to provide speedy justice for litigants, easy and better access to justice for the masses and reduce pending cases. 
All India Institute of Ayurveda, Yoga and Naturopathy - The foundation stone for All India Institute of Ayurveda, Yoga and Naturopathy, Goa would be laid in Goa. Two-day yoga conference would also be held in Panaji from 12th November.
Central Tribal University in Andhra Pradesh - Law Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad said, the Cabinet has approved amendment to the Central Universities Act- 2009 for setting up of a Central Tribal University in Andhra Pradesh.
Faizabad will be renamed as Ayodhya - Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath announced that Faizabad district will be renamed as Ayodhya. He also said Ayodhya will get a new airport and a medical college. “A medical college will be established in Ayodhya, I want it to be named after King Dasharatha. We will also construct an airport here named after Lord Ram,” CM Yogi said.
Cabinet Approved Six Airport Under PPP - The Cabinet approved a proposal to manage Ahmedabad, Jaipur, Lucknow Guwahati, Thiruvananthapuram and Mangaluru under public private partnership (PPP). This would be done through Public Private Partnership Appraisal Committee (PPPAC).
CBI: No Entry without Permission - Soon after the Andhra Pradesh government barred the entry of CBI without permission, the West Bengal government followed the suit by withdrawing the ‘general consent’ accorded to the investigating agency to conduct raids or carry out investigations in the state. Now central agency would henceforth require permission from the state government to carry out any sort of investigation except those ordered by the court.
Jammu and Kashmir State Assembly Dissolved - Jammu and Kashmir Governor Satya Pal Malik passed an order dissolving the state legislative Assembly. The Governor’s communique came shortly after both PDP chief Mehbooba Mufti and People’s Conference leader Sajad Lone staked claim to form the government in the state. 
Odisha Proposed 33 Percent Reservation for Women - Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik introduced a resolution in the state legislative assembly proposing 33 per cent reservation for women in Parliament and legislative assemblies.
India will Develop Prototype One Kilogram - The government said it will develop a prototype of one kilogram in next three years that will be in sync with the new definition of kilogram, which is coming into effect from next May across the globe. The new scientific standard of kg will help in accurate measurement, which will immensely benefit sectors such as pharma and precious metals.
Reservation to Maratha Community in Maharashtra - The Maharashtra government has decided to provide reservation in jobs and education to the Maratha community under Social and Education Backward Class. At present, the total reservation in Maharashtra accounts for 52 per cent. The 16 per cent quota to the Maratha community will take the total reservation in the state to 68 per cent. 
Penalty on Punjab Government - National Green Tribunal ordered the Punjab government to submit a fine of Rs. 50 crore as environmental compensation for polluting rivers Sutlej and Beas due to industrial discharge. The Bench has asked the Punjab government to recover the fine from industries in two weeks.
National Data Repository - Union Government has set up a state of -the- art National Data Repository. National Data Repository (NDR) is an integrated data repository of Exploration and Production (E&P) data of Indian sedimentary basins.
Supreme Court Open for Tour - The Supreme Court has opened its doors for guided tours. Chief Justice of India Ranjan Gogoi launched the project. The tours are free of charge and will be conducted between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. every Saturday, except on declared holidays.

Domestic Gold Council - The government has decided to set up domestic Gold council in India to promote the growth of the sector and boost exports of jewellery. Commerce and Industry Minister Suresh Prabhu said this while inaugurating the 2nd Edition of India Gold and Jewellery Summit in New Delhi.
Real Time Data of City Bus - Delhi becomes the first city in the country to open up transit data of city buses, that will provide static and real time data through the website — www.otd.delhi.gov.in — including geo-coordinates of bus stops, route maps, timetables, and real time GPS feeds of bus locations.
Tallest Structure in India - Andhra Pradesh chief minister Chandrababu Naidu stated that the proposed Andhra Pradesh Assembly building at Amaravati will be taller than the Statue of Unity (182 Meter) by 68 metres. Naidu has finalised the design which was submitted by UK-based architects Norma Fosters.
Land Rights To Enclave - West Bengal Assembly unanimously passed a Bill to give land rights to enclave dwellers in north Bengal, ending an era of uncertain future for the people residing in those enclaves. Bangladesh and India had exchanged a total of 162 enclaves on Aug 1, 2015, ending one of the world’s most-complex border disputes.
Web Portal for Land Records - Andhra Pradesh has launched a web portal which makes land records available to people with unique identification numbers. The “Bhudaar’’ is an 11-digit unique identification code assigned to each agriculture land holding and rural and urban properties in the state.

Foundation of Dera Baba Nanak - Kartarpur Sahib Road Corridor - The Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu on November 26, 2018 laid the foundation stone for the construction of Dera Baba Nanak (India) - Kartarpur Sahib (Pakistan) Road Corridor at a function in Mann village in Gurdaspur district of Punjab. Earlier Indian Government decided to build the Kartarpur road Corridor upto the international border between India and Pakistan. On November 15, 2018, India and Pakistan had announced to build Corridors on their respective sides to let Sikh pilgrims visit the holy shrine without visa and to help them walk across and come back without having to secure a visa.
Harsimrat Kaur Badal and Hardeep Singh Puri - India will send Union ministers Harsimrat Kaur Badal and Hardeep Singh Puri to Pakistan to attend the groundbreaking ceremony of the Kartarpur corridor. Minister of External Affairs Sushma swaraj and Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder declined Pakistan’s invite while state minister Navjot Singh Sidhu accepted the request to attend ceremony.
Train-18 Completed First Trial - Train 18, the first long-distance engine-less train by Indian Railways, has successfully completed its first stage of trials up to the speed of 180 kmph on nominated track. The new ‘Make in India’ engines-less Train 18, manufactured by Integral Coach Factory (ICF) Chennai, is a big technological leap for Indian Railways – an eco-friendly replacement for the premium Shatabdi Express trains. 
Three Projects on Indus Tributaries - India has decided to fast-track three projects to arrest the unutilised water of its share under the bilateral Indus Waters Treaty with Pakistan. The three projects include the Shahpur Kandi dam project, a second Sutlej-Beas link in Punjab and the Ujh Dam project in Jammu and Kashmir. Under the Indus Waters Treaty, waters flowing in three of Indus tributaries — the Sutlej, Beas and Ravi — have been allotted to India; while the Chenab, Jhelum and Indus waters have been allotted to Pakistan.
Emergency Response Support System (ERSS) - Himachal Pradesh emerged as the first state in the country to implement Emergency Response Support System (ERSS) when Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh launched the system at Mandi. All emergency numbers have been integrated into countrywide one number, 112. Union Home Ministry stated that Ensuring safety of women, 'SHOUT' feature has been introduced in '112 India' mobile app to seek immediate assistance from registered volunteers.
SHe-Box - The Ministry of Women and Child Development has linked the sexual harassment complaints portal ‘SHe-Box’ with all the Central Ministries, Departments and 653 districts. SHe-Box is an online portal, which has been created by the WCD Ministry to report complaints of sexual harassment at the workplace.
Habibganj and Gandhinagar Railway Station - Indian Railways’ first two world-class railway stations with state-of-the-art amenities – Habibganj in Madhya Pradesh and Gandhinagar in Gujarat – will be ready by early 2019. The Habibganj railway station is the first in India to be redeveloped under the PPP (Public-Private Partnership) model on the lines of Germany’s Heidelberg railway station. 
Ram Statue in Ayodhya - Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath finalised the details for the construction of a 221-metre long bronze statue of Ram in Ayodhya. Inside the base of proposed Ram statue, there will be a provision for a “modern museum” that will showcase the history of Ayodhya and the entire “Ikshvaku Vansh” — right from King Manu to the present status of “Ram Janmabhoomi”.
Bullet Train Form Chennai To Bangalore - German government has recently submitted a feasibility study to the Railway Board on a new bullet train project on the Chennai-Arakkonam-Bangalore-Mysore route. The report states that the 435-km distance can be covered in under three hours with a maximum speed of around 320 kmph. The project is likely to cost around Rs 1 lakh crore. 
Dedicated Aircraft for Atmospheric Research - India will procure a dedicated aircraft for carrying out all airborne atmospheric research. The exclusive aircraft, equipped with sophisticated instruments, will work as National Facility for Airborne Research (NFAR). The cabinet approved establishment of the NFAR with an initial financial commitment of Rs 130 crore during 2020-21.
National Clean Air Programme - The Centre has fixed a target of reducing air pollution by 20-30% from the current level in 102 cities across the country by 2024. The target is part of the environment ministry’s National Clean Air Programme (NCAP). NCAP carrying details of specific time-bound actions and emergency measures such as graded response action plan (GRAP) on the basis of Air Quality Index (AQI).
Western Peripheral Expressway - Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the Delhi Western Peripheral Expressway also called the Kundli-Manesar-Palwal (KMP) Expressway on 19 November. The Expressway is about 136 kilometres long. The cost of Eastern and Western Peripheral Expressway was borne by the Delhi government, Uttar Pradesh government and Haryana government in the ratio of 50:25:25 respectively.
NPCC Conferred Miniratna Company - The National Projects Construction Corporation Limited (NPCC) was conferred with the status of Miniratna: Category –I by the Union Government. The empowerment of Miniratna Status to NPCC will help the company in taking speedy decisions.

SHAKTI - Researchers at the Indian Institute of Technology Madras have designed and booted up the first indigenously-developed microprocessor in the country. Named SHAKTI, the processor was successfully fabricated at the Semi-Conductor Laboratory of the Indian Space Research Organization (Isro) in Chandigarh.
INS Viraat as a maritime Museum - Maharashtra cabinet cleared the decks for the Navy's longest-serving aircraft carrier, INS Viraat, now decommissioned, to be converted into India's first-ever moored maritime museum-cum-marine adventure centre. The ship's conversion will be on public-private-partnership (PPP) basis.
70-feet Tall Statue of Lord Buddha - Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar unveiled a 70-feet tall statue of Lord Buddha at Rajgir in Nalanda district. The statue has been installed in the middle of the lake Ghora Katora.
Consortium of Academic and Research Ethics (CARE) - University Grants Commission has decided to set up a Consortium of Academic and Research Ethics (CARE) which will prepare a fresh list of credible quality journals in the non-science disciplines. CARE will be headed by the UGC Vice Chairman.
Penalty on West Bengal Government - The National Green Tribunal (NGT) has imposed a fine of Rs 5 crore on the West Bengal government for failing to take steps to improve the air quality of Kolkata and Howrah. 
Old Pension Scheme Restored In Delhi - Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal announced that the old pension scheme will be restored by his government. He said a resolution will be passed in a special session of the Legislative Assembly. It will then be sent to the Centre for approval.
Passports in Less Than 48 Hours - Minister of State for External Affairs VK Singh has said, Indian missions across the world would soon issue passports in less than 48 hours to citizens abroad. Earlier Indian mission at New York issued passports in less than 48 hours.
Gas Distribution Facility - Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid foundation stones to mark the beginning of work for CNG supply to automobiles and piped cooking gas to kitchens in 129 districts of 18 states, covering over a quarter of India’s population. Prime Minister Narendra Modi said around 400 district will have city gas distribution facility in next 2 to 3 year.

Fence on Rail Tracks - After the incident in Amritsar last month Indian Railways has decided to build 3,000 km of walls to fence its tracks and ward off trespassers in residential areas. The Railways has estimated that the project will cost about Rs 2,500 crore.
Kolkata: Most Polluted City - The level of pollutants in Kolkata has surpassed the level of particulate matter in New Delhi. The National Air Quality Index website showed that the overall PM 2.5 count in Kolkata stood at 381 (very poor) on 15 November when compared to Delhi where the AQI was recorded at 292.25.
Statue of Unity is Visible From Space - Planet Labs, the world's leading commercial satellite network, released a satellite image of Statue of Unity in Gujarat, which was recently inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. At 192 Meter, India’s Statue of Unity is now the tallest statue in the world and clearly seen from space. Satellite SkySat captured the image on 15 November 2018.
Satyarup Siddhanta - Indian mountaineer Satyarup Siddhanta became the first Indian to climb Mt Giluwe, the second highest mountain in Papua New Guinea. Height of the Mountain is 4,367 metres.
Shri Ramayana Express - Shri Ramayana Express, the first tourist circuit train on the theme of Ramayana, was flagged off from Safdarjung railway station in New Delhi. The pilgrimage circuit will have two travel components – one each in both countries, India and Sri Lanka. Major stoppages of Shri Ramayana Express are Ayodhya, Varanasi, Janakpur, Nasik, Chitrakoot, Hampi and Rameshwaram.
Inland Multi-Modal Terminal Port - Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated an Inland Multi-Modal Terminal Port on river Ganga at Ramnagar in Varanasi. The inland waterways terminal is the first of the four Multi-Modal Terminals being constructed on National Waterways-I on River Ganga as part of the World Bank-aided Jal Marg Vikas project of the Inland Waterways Authority of India. The other three terminals are under construction at Sahibganj, Haldia and Gazipur.
Cyclonic Gaja - A deep depression in the bay of bengal has intensified into a cyclonic storm named ‘Gaja’ and is likely to cross the North Tamil Nadu and South Andhra Pradesh coast between Cuddalore and Sriharikota on November 15.
Snowfall Declared natural calamity - The Jammu and Kashmir government declared the heavy snowfall as state-specific "special natural calamity" to streamline providing relief and assistance to farmers affected by the unexpected event.
Border Area Development Programme (BADP) - The Union Ministry of Home Affairs released Rs 113.36 crore to 6 Border States under the Border Area Development Programme (BADP) to improve the condition of people living in these isolated locations. These 6 Border States are Assam, Nagaland, Sikkim, Gujarat, Rajasthan and Uttarakhand. Now, the BADP covers 111 border districts in 17 states to meet special development needs of border population.
Signature Bridge Inaugurated - Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal inaugurated the long awaited Delhi's Signature Bridge, the first asymmetrical cable-stayed bridge in India. The 675-metre bridge was constructed by the Delhi Tourism and Transport Development Corporation (DTTDC) at an expenditure of Rs 1,518.37 crore.
First Container Movement in Inland Waterways - In the maiden container since Independence on inland vessel MV RN Tagore, food and beverages major PepsiCo is moving its 16 containers from Kolkata to Varanasi. Prime Minister Narendra Modi on November 12 will receive a container vessel in the new multi-modal terminal, Varanasi. The Kolkata to Varanasi route is part of what is called National Waterways-1 (Length 1620 Km).
OMCs and CSCs Signed MoU - In a move to push the distribution of LPG connections in rural areas, oil marketing companies (OMCs) Bharat Petroleum, India Oil and Hindustan Petroleum authorised through three lakh Common Service Centres (CSCs) across the country Common Service Centres to book and distribute gas cylinders.
Free Mobile for Farmers - Jharkhand Chief Minister Raghubar Das announced that the government will provide free mobile phones to 28 lakh farmers and a separate electric feeder for them for agriculture purpose by 2019/2021. Chief Minister announced in Agriculture and Food Summit in Ranchi. 

Banking and Economic

GDP Growth Data Released – According to Central Statistics Office (CSO), GDP growth slowed in the second quarter (July-September) of this financial year to 7.1% from 8.2% in the previous quarter. This, however, is still higher than China’s economic growth of 6.5% during the same quarter. The slowdown in the second quarter is due to the impact of rising oil prices on input costs, and also due to the effect of the rupee devaluation.
PAiSA - Portal for Loan - A centralized electronic platform for processing interest subvention on bank loans to beneficiaries under Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana – National Urban Livelihoods Mission (DAY-NULM) named “PAiSA – Portal for Affordable Credit and Interest Subvention Access” was launched. The web platform has been designed and developed by Allahabad Bank which is the Nodal bank. All 35 states and Union Territories and all scheduled commercial banks, and Cooperative Banks are likely to be on board PAiSA portal by year end.
SEBI Increased Commodity Trading Time - SEBI has decided to increase the trading time in the commodity segment by an hour. For non agricultural commodities, the revised timings will be from 9 am to 11.55 pm, while for agricultural and agri-processed commodities, the trading hours will be from 9 am to 9 pm.
Capital Infusion Plan For PSB - Finance Ministry is likely to infuse Rs 54,000 crore in public sector banks (PSBs) soon as part of its ambitious recapitalisation plan to improve the financial health of lenders. Last October, the government had announced Rs 2.11 lakh crore bank recapitalisation plan, of which Rs 1.35 lakh crore was capital infusion from the government while the rest was through recap bonds and market raising.
Disinvestment of Air India - The government has appro­ved 100 percent stake sale in state-owned airline Air India’s ground-handling company Air India Air Transport Services Limited (AIATSL). The approval comes at a time when the government is working on ways to revive the fortunes of Air India — estimated to have the debt burden of more than Rs 500 billion. AIATSL is Air India’s only profitable subsidiary. 
TCS Most Valued Company - Tata Consultancy Services once again became the most-valued Indian company by market capitalisation following a smart surge in its share price. Over the past few months, RIL and TCS are competing with each other to claim the number one position in terms of market capitalisation.
Public Credit Registry - Reserve Bank has initiated steps to set up a wide-based digital Public Credit Registry (PCR) to capture details of all borrowers, including wilful defaulters The PCR will also include data from entities like market regulator Sebi, the corporate affairs ministry, Goods and Service Tax Network (GSTN) and the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Board of India (IBBI) to enable the banks and financial institutions to get 360 degree profile of existing and prospective borrowers on a real-time basis.
Easy Loan For MSME - Prime Minister Modi announced that all GST-registered Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) can now avail a loan of up to Rs 1 crore in just 59 minutes. Also, GST-registered MSMEs will get two per cent interest subvention or rebate on an incremental loan of up to Rs 1 crore.
Norms For IPO Revised - The Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) has initiated the process to reduce the timeline for public issues from the current six days to three days in a phased manner by making it mandatory for intermediaries to provide retail investors the option of bidding through the Unified Payments Interface (UPI).
Capital Adequacy Norms - Reserve Bank of India’s Central Board, while deciding to retain the CRAR (Capital to Risk (Weighted) Assets Ratio) at 9%, agreed to extend the transition period for implementing the last tranche of 0.625% under the Capital Conservation Buffer (CCB), by one year, i.e., up to March 31, 2020. 
Revised Data of GDP Released - Union Ministry of Statistics & Programme Implementation (MOSPI) released the revised Gross Domestic Product (GDP) data for the years 2004-2005 to 2010-2011. Modifying the data of past years using 2011-12 as the base year instead of 2004-05, the Central Statistics Office (CSO) lowered the GDP growth rate under the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) Government from 10.3 percent in financial year 2010-11 to 8.5 percent. The new numbers show that India's economic growth rate for 2005-06 to 2011-12 averaged at 6.7 percent. The previous numbers had put the average growth rate during the UPA rule at 7.75 percent.
New Direct Tax Law Task Force - The government appointed the Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) member Akhilesh Ranjan as convenor of New Direct Tax Law Task Force that is drafting a new tax law.
SFIO Empowered - Centre has allowed the Serious Fraud Investigation Office (SFIO) powers to request look-out circulars (LoCs) against loan defaulters. The SFIO is a statutory body, under the Ministry of Corporate Affairs and investigates matters related to serious fraud in a company.
HCL and Bajaj Finance Included in Sensex - IT major Wipro and Adani Ports and Special Economic Zones Ltd. will be dropped from the Sensex, effective December 24. In their places, HCL Technologies and Bajaj Finance will enter the index.
Paytm Partnered with LIC - Paytm (One 97 Communications Limited) has partnered with the Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC) to offer online insurance premium payments on its platform. Softbank-backed Paytm will provide premium payment solutions from over 30 insurance companies including LIC.
LoC Against Wilful Defaulters - Government has now allowed CEOs of public sector banks to directly seek issuance of look-out circulars (LOCs) against wilful defaulters to prevent them from fleeing the country. The change was made after recommendations by an inter-ministerial panel under Finance Secretary Rajiv Kumar.
NSE goBID - National Stock Exchange of India (NSE) has launched a mobile application and web-based platform for retail investors to buy government securities. The new app - NSE goBID will allow retail investors to invest in treasury bills (T-Bills) of 91 days, 182 days and 364 days and various government bonds.
BSE will snap ties with S&P Dow Jones - Asia’s oldest bourse BSE will snap ties with S&P Dow Jones, which manages and operates the benchmark Sensex, and plans to develop indices through its in-house development team. The two entities had announced a joint venture — Asia Index — in 2013 to provide an array of indices enabling global and domestic investors to participate in South Asia’s vibrant economies.
State Owned Banks Losses Widen - State-owned banks saw their cumulative losses widen nearly three-and-a-half times to Rs. 14,716.2 crore in the July-September quarter of the current fiscal due to mounting bad loans. These 21 public sector banks had posted a net loss of Rs. 4,284.45 crore in the September quarter of 2017-18.
Remittances Received by India - India continues to be the top nation with $69 billion of remittances that it received last year, according to RBI. Four southern states Kerala, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh received almost half 46% of its total remittances. Kerala topped the list with 19%.
Fitch Retained India’s Rating - Fitch Ratings retained India’s sovereign rating at ‘BBB-’, the lowest investment grade rating, although maintaining its stable outlook. India’s real GDP growth is expected to be at 7.8 percent in FY19, up from 6.7 percent in FY18. 
RBI Slapped Penalty on Banks - The Reserve Bank of India has slapped monetary penalty of Rs 3 crore each on Jammu and Kashmir Bank and Deutsche Bank AG for non-compliance with the directions issued by the central bank on Income Recognition and Asset Classification (IRAC) norms, Know Your Customer or Anti-money Laundering (KYC/AML) norms. 
Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP)- Union Minister for Commerce & Industry and Civil Aviation, Suresh Prabhu, is leading the delegation for the meeting for trade Ministers of RCEP member countries which is taking place in Singapore on November 12-13, 2018. RCEP is a proposed free trade agreement (FTA) between member countries. The RCEP members include 10 ASEAN members – Brunei Cambodia, Indonesia, Malaysia, Myanmar, Singapore, Thailand, the Philippines, Laos and Vietnam and their 6 free trade agreement partners – India, China, Japan, South Korea, Australia and New Zealand.
Disinvestment of Enemy Property - In a bid to boost disinvestment receipts, the Cabinet gave its approval to sell Enemy Property worth Rs 3,000 crore. According to the Enemy Property Bill of 1968, ‘Enemy property’ refers to any property belonging to, held or managed on behalf of an enemy, an enemy subject or an enemy firm.
NPAs in MUDRA Loans - The share of gross non-performing assets (NPAs) in outstanding Mudra loans eased to 4.83% at the end of FY18 from 6.15% a year ago, according to data with Micro Units Development & Refinance Agency (Mudra). The value of outstanding Mudra loans as on March 31, 2018 was Rs 2.02 lakh crore, of which loans worth Rs 9,770 crore were classified as NPAs. 
Disinvestment in DCIL - Cabinet Committee has given ‘in principle’ approval for strategic disinvestment of 100% Government of India's shares in DCIL to consortium of four ports namely, Vishakhapatnam Port Trust, Paradeep Port Trust, Jawahar Lal Nehru Port Trust and Kandla Port Trust. Presently the Government of India holds 73.44% shares in Dredging Corporation of India Limited.
Kirloskar Capital - Kirloskar group had announced that it has received licence from the Reserve Bank to launch a non-banking finance company (NBFC), Kirloskar Capital.
Penalty Against Fino Payment Bank - The Reserve Bank imposed a fine of Rs 1 crore on Fino Payments Bank for opening new accounts despite directions not to do so until further order. Earlier in May, the RBI had directed payments bank to halt account opening functions.
International Payment Through Blockchain - In a first for India, British banking major HSBC has executed a trade finance transaction involving an export by Reliance Industries to an American client Tricon Energy using the blockchain, which massively reduced the time taken for processing the documents.
Largest Transaction through Rupay - RuPay India’s own homegrown card network RuPay has become the biggest market player with over 459 million transactions constituting more than half of total transactions being made in India. Rupay became the largest payment card network overtaking VISA in June last year when it touched the base of 375 million transactions.
NIIF acquired IDFC Infrastructure Finance - National Investment and Infrastructure Fund (NIIF) has acquired IDFC Infrastructure Finance (IDFC-IFL), an infrastructure debt fund. This acquisition is the first investment from NIIF’s strategic fund.
Crackdown on Saharas - In a fresh crackdown on Saharas, regulator Sebi has found another group firm (Sahara India Commercial Corporation Ltd) to have raised over Rs 14,000 crore in violation of rules and has ordered the company and its then directors including Subrata Roy to refund the money with 15 per cent annual interest. The order relates to collecting funds between 1998 and 2009 from nearly 2 crore investors through issuance of certain bonds.
GST Collection Crosse Rs 1 lakh Crore - The Goods and Services Tax (GST) collection for the month of October crossed Rs 1 lakh crore mark after missing the target for five months on the back of lower tax rates, lesser evasion, higher compliance among others. Earlier, GST collection in April was over Rs 1 lakh crore, mainly due to year-end accruals. 

International News

Strategic Oil Storage at Padur - India signed an initial pact to lease out a part of its underground strategic oil storage at Padur in Karnataka to Abu Dhabi National Oil Co (ADNOC) for storing crude oil, the second such deal with the UAE firm this year. India has built 5.33 million tonne (MT) of emergency storage enough to meet its oil needs for 9.5 days, in underground rock caverns in Mangalore and Padur in Karnataka and Visakhapatnam in Andhra Pradesh. It has allowed foreign oil companies to store oil in the storages on condition that the stockpile can be used by New Delhi in case of an emergency.
Ceremony on First World War - World leaders gathered in Paris on November 11, 2018 to lead the global commemorations to mark 100 years since the end of the First World War. The occasion saw around 70 leaders come together including US President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin to mark the centenary of the 1918 Armistice at the historic Arc De Triomphe in the French capital. Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu also attended the ceremony.
World War Memorial - The Vice President of India, Shri M. Venkaiah Naidu inaugurated the First World War Memorial constructed by the Government of India at the town of Villers Guislain in France.  Shri Naidu laid wreath and paid homage to the Indian soldiers who fought selflessly and heroically during World War 1 and made the supreme sacrifice. 
Kilogram Redefined - The so-called “Grand K” kilogram, a cylinder of polished platinum-iridium alloy that has been the world’s sole true kilo since 1889, is to be retired. Nations gathered in Versailles, Paris, instead approved the use of a scientific formula to define the exact weight of a kilogram. Countries also unanimously approved updates to three other key units- the kelvin for temperature, the ampere for electrical current and the mole for the amount of a substance.
BeiDou-3 Launched - China successfully launched a high orbit satellite BeiDou-3 to boost BeiDou global satellite navigation system being built to rival United States Global Position System (GPS). The satellite was launched from the Xichang Satellite Launch Centre in the southwestern Sichuan Province.
India-Russia Strategic Economic Dialogue - India and Russia agreed to increase cooperation in the field of artificial intelligence (AI), blockchain system, and explore the possibility of joint work in healthcare. The statement issued after the first India-Russia Strategic Economic Dialogue at St Petersburg. The dialogue was led by Niti Aayog vice chairman Rajiv Kumar and minister of economic development of the Russian Federation Maxim Oreshkin.
India and Nepal Set up Hotline - India and Nepal have decided to set up a hotline to ensure effective coordination between them to check smuggling. The two top officials had met in Kathmandu for the 19th annual Indo-Nepal Director General-level talks.
Maldives Approved to Rejoin Commonwealth - Maldives cabinet has approved the proposal to rejoin the Commonwealth, two years after withdrawing from the 53-nation grouping. The announcement was made by the nation’s newly inaugurated President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih. The country had left the Commonwealth during former President Abdulla Yameen's administration in October 2016, amid mounting pressure over corruption and deteriorating human rights.
India and Russia Signed Defence Deal - India signed a $500 mn deal with Russia to locally manufacture two stealth frigates with technology transfer. The agreement was signed between Goa Shipyard Limited (GSL) and Rosoboronexport of Russia. Work on the two frigates will start in two years by mid-2020 and is expected to be completed by 2026- 2027.
UN Postal Stamps for Commemorate Diwali - India thanked the UN Postal Administration for issuing special postal stamps to commemorate Diwali. The background of the sheet features the United Nations Headquarters building illuminated with the message of “Happy Diwali” to celebrate the spirit of the festival.
Train Services Between India and Nepal - The first passenger train to run on broad gauge between India and Nepal is likely to run from December this year. The train will run from Jayanagar in Bihar to Kurtha in Dhanusa district in Janakpur Zone of south-eastern Nepal, which is a 34 km stretch. No visa will be required for Indian and Nepalese nationals crossing the border through this stretch.
Trade Dispute Between India and USA - India’s trade dispute with America has reached to a next level in the World Trade Organization (WTO), as India asked the WTO to form a panel against the USA for imposing high import duties on aluminium and certain steel products. India decision to urge WTO to set up panel came after both countries failed to resolve the issue in a bilateral talk process under the WTO’s dispute settlement mechanism. Earlier US President Trump imposed the tariffs levying 25% on steel import and 10% on aluminium.
USA Trade Dispute in WTO - World Trade Organization agreed to hear grievances from European Union, China, Canada, Norway, Mexico, and Russia against USA. The Dispute Settlement Body of WTO approved the constitution of panels to review US decision to hit a long line of countries with tariffs of 25% on steel and 10% on aluminium.
Australia moves WTO against India - Australia has referred India to the World Trade Organization over subsidies it pays its sugar cane farmers, which Australia says has created a global surplus that’s affecting its own farmers. Earlier Prime Minister Scott Morrison also raised the sugar dispute in a meeting with Indian counterpart Narendra Modi on the sidelines of the East Asia Summit in Singapore.
Noida and Greater Noida - United Nations selected Uttar Pradesh’s Noida and Greater Noida to participate in its Global Sustainable Cities 2025 initiative. The twin-cities have been selected in the “University City” category ahead of Mumbai and Bengaluru as the only invitee from India. Overall 25 cities across the world have been selected in five categories by the UN Global Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) cities initiative.
EU will be Carbon Neutral by 2050 - The European Union urged government, businesses, citizens and regions to join it in an ambitious plan to cut emissions and make the bloc carbon neutral by 2050. If Europe retains its current targets it will only reduce net carbon emissions by 60 per cent by mid-century, not enough to meet the bloc's pledges under the 2015 Paris climate accord.
Kimberley Process Certification Scheme - The Kimberley Process Certification Scheme (KPCS) Plenary 2018, was held in Brussels, Belgium. EU handed over the Chairmanship of KPCS to India from 1st January 2019. This year was the fifteenth anniversary of KPCS. The next Intersessional session is slated to be held in India as Chair. Botswana and the Russian Federation will serve as Vice-Chair during the period of 2019-2020.
Martial Law in Ukraine - Ukraine's parliament has imposed martial law in the country to fight what its president called "growing aggression" from Moscow after a weekend naval confrontation off the disputed Crimean Peninsula in which Russia fired on and seized three Ukrainian vessels amid renewed tensions between the neighbors.
Pak-China Bus Services - India said it has lodged strong protests with Pakistan and China over a proposed bus service between the two countries that runs through Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK), calling it a violation of “India’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.” The bus service will be launched on between Lahore in Pakistan and Kashgar in China via Pakistan-occupied Kashmir on November 13 under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) project.
Virtual Newsreaders - Xinhua, China's state-run press agency, recently unveiled virtual newsreaders that combine the images and voices of human anchors with artificial intelligence (AI) technology. Xinhua unveiled two AI newsreaders, one that speaks in English and one in Chinese. Xinhua developed the robot anchor with Chinese search engine Sogou.com.
Eritrea - United Nations Security Council in a unanimous vote agreed to lift the sanctions imposed against Eritrea, after nine years. Security Council had imposed an arms embargo, asset freeze and a travel ban on Eritrea, amidst claims that the northeast African nation, supported al-Shabab militants in Somalia. 
Bailout Package for Pakistan - Even as cash-strapped Pakistan looks forward to about $6 billion financial bailout for averting its balance of payments crisis, IMF is reportedly dissatisfied with its fiscal policies, and has directed the country to raise taxes in order to survive. Earlier last month, Saudi Arabia said it would provide Pakistan with a $6 billion rescue package.
More Sanction of Iran - The Trump administration on November 2 announced the reimposition of all U.S. sanctions on Iran that had been lifted under the 2015 nuclear deal. The sanctions will take effect on November 5 and cover Iran’s shipping, financial and energy sectors. Eight nations such as Italy, India, Japan and South Korea, will receive temporary waivers allowing them to continue to import Iranian petroleum products for a limited period. 
Norms for Foreign Worker Eased - Japan's Cabinet approved a draft bill to bring more blue-collar foreign workers into the country to address chronic labour shortages. The bill would allow foreign nationals with skills in sectors facing particularly severe shortages to obtain five-year visas.
India and Malawi Signed MoU- India and Malawi signed three MoUs on extradition, cooperation in atomic energy and visa waiver for diplomats and officials as Vice President Venkaiah Naidu met Malawian President Arthur Peter Mutharika. India will also extend the new line of credit of USD 215.16 million. India will also construct a Mahatma Gandhi Convention Centre in Malawi.
Facebook Against Fake News - Social networking giant Facebook has teamed up with news agency Agence France-Presse (AFP), expanding third-party fact-checking programme in India, as it looks to combat the spread of “fake news” on its platform ahead of general elections in 2019. 
India and South Korea signed - India and South Korea signed two Memorandums of Understanding (MoU) for strengthening cooperation in field of Tourism and sports during the visit of Kim Jung-sook, the First Lady of the Republic of Korea, to India. First Lady Kim was the Chief Guest at the Deepotsav event organised by Uttar Pradesh and at the ceremony of the new Memorial of Queen Suriratna (Heo Hwang-ok) in Ayodhya.
Data Breach in Pakistan - In a shocking disclosure, Pakistan’s Federal Investigation Agency’s (FIA) revealed that customers’ data from almost all major Pakistani banks was stolen in a recent security breach. The disclosure comes days after around 10 banks blocked all international transactions on their cards, following concerns raised about a breach of credit and debit card data.
India Signed Deal for Controlling Pollution - India has sealed a deal with four global agencies, including the World Bank and GIZ, the Asian Development Bank (ADB) and Bloomberg Philanthropies, to build capacities of all 102 polluted cities across the country. The list includes Mumbai, Pune, Kolkata, Varanasi, Kanpur, Lucknow, Allahabad, Patna, Bengaluru, Chandigarh, Jaipur and Hyderabad among others.

Australia Rejected UN Migration Pact - Australian government has announced that it would reject a UN migration pact already denounced by the United States, Poland, Austria, Hungary and the Czech Republic. Prime Minister Scott Morrison said, adopting the pact would risk encouraging illegal entry to Australia.
USA Suspended Assistance To Pakistan - United States has suspended its 1.66 billion dollar security assistance to Pakistan. Pakistan has taken no serious steps to address the core US concern that Pakistan often encourages groups which use violence against its neighbours.
India and Australia Signed Five Agreement - India and Australia signed five agreements to boost investments and enhance cooperation in areas including services to the disabled, bilateral investment, scientific collaboration and agricultural research and education. The agreements were signed during Indian President Ram Nath Kovind’s Australian Visit. President Ram Nath Kovind on November 22, 2018 unveiled the statue of Mahatma Gandhi at Parramatta in Sydney, Australia.
India China Boundary Talk - National Security Adviser Ajit Doval will be in Chengdu, China for boundary talks with foreign minister and state councilor Wang Yi. The two senior officials are also expected to prepare for a meeting between Mr. Modi and Mr. Xi on the sidelines of a G-20 meeting that begins on November 30 in Argentina capital Buenos Aires.
US Report on Climate Changes - A major scientific report issued by 13 federal agencies presents the starkest warnings to date of the consequences of climate change for the United States, predicting that if significant steps are not taken to rein in global warming, the damage will knock as much as 10 percent off the size of the US economy by century’s end.
India and China Signed Protocol - India and China have signed a protocol on hygiene and inspection requirements for the exports. The protocol was signed in New Delhi during the visit of Chinese Vice Minister, General Administration of Customs of China. Signing of the protocol between the two countries paves the way for export of Indian fish oil and fish meal to China.
Centre for Innovation - Djibouti President Ismail Omar Guelleh inaugurated a centre of entrepreneurship and innovation built by India. In November 2016, India had provided a $5 million grant to build an incubation centre in Djibouti.
Double Taxation Avoidance Agreement - India and China have amended the bilateral tax treaty.  Both countries signed a protocol to amend the Double Taxation Avoidance Agreement (DTAA) for the avoidance of double taxation and for the prevention of fiscal evasion with respect to taxes on income. 
ADB Loan for Bihar State - Centre and Asian Development Bank (ADB) signed a 200 million dollar loan agreement to finance widening and upgrading of about 230 Kilometers State Highways in Bihar to all-weather standards with road safety features. 
India Aid to Myanmar - India has extended a USD 5 million aid to Myanmar as its assistance for development projects on the Indo-Myanmar border. India and Myanmar signed a Memorandum of Understanding for border development in May 2012, under which India is to provide a total of USD 25 million to Myanmar, divided into five tranches of USD 5 million each.
World’s First Underwater Hotel - Maldives has finally opened the world’s first underwater hotel, which is situated in the Indian Ocean. The hotel is situated 16 feet deep in the Indian Ocean and the cost is Rs 36 lakh per night.
President will Visit Vietnam - President Ram Nath Kovind will pay a three-day visit to Vietnam with a focus on deepening bilateral cooperation in key areas of defence and security, trade and in offshore oil exploration.

India and Senegal Agreed on Clean Energy - External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj handed over two e-rickshaws to the Ambassador of Senegal in a gesture symbolising the partnership between the two countries in the clean energy sector. India is supplying 250 e-rickshaws with lithium-ion batteries on a grant basis to Senegal.
India Surpassed China in Air Pollution - According to Berkeley Earth, which analyses air quality in real-time, “India surpassed China in recent years as the region of the world with the most severe air pollution”.

Saubhagya – ‘Pradhan Mantri Sahaj Bijli Har Ghar Yojana’- RK Singh, Union Minister of State for Power and Renewable Energy announced that 8 States have achieved 100 percent saturation in household electrification under Saubhagya – ‘Pradhan Mantri Sahaj Bijli Har Ghar Yojana’. With this, there are now total 15 States in the country that have 100 percent household electrification. With the present pace of electrification, India is expected to achieve 100 percent saturation in the country by December 31, 2018. However Government is committed to ensuring 24x7 access to electricity for all by 31st March next year.
Bhasha Sangam - The government launched a unique initiative called Bhasha Sangam to introduce school students to 22 Indian languages. Bhasha Sangam is a programme for schools and educational institutions to provide multilingual exposure to students in Indian languages. The initiative, under Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat, was launched on November 22 and will continue till December 21, 2018. 
ACROSS Programme - Cabinet approved continuation of nine sub-schemes under the ACROSS programme, aimed at providing improved weather, climate and ocean forecast and services, during 2017-2020 at an estimated cost of Rs 1,450 crore. The scheme, Atmosphere & Climate Research-Modelling Observing Systems & Services (ACROSS), will be implemented by the Ministry of Earth Sciences.
Project for Gir Lions - Gujarat government launched a Rs 351-crore project for the conservation of the Gir lions. The project is launched in the backdrop of the Canine Distemper Virus (CDV) outbreak that claimed 23 Asiatic lions lives in their only dwelling Gir National park in Saurashtra.
Nirbhaya Fund - The Union Ministry of Women and Child Development has decided to use Nirbhaya Fund to set up 1,023 fast track courts to dispose off pending cases of rape of children and women. The project has a total financial implication of Rs 767.25 crore.
e-learning portal ‘NIPUN’- Delhi Police launched e-learning portal ‘NIPUN’ to impart training and provide up to date information to police officers. The initiative is aimed at imparting in-service online training and information to police personnel through specialised courses available online.
Combined Survey on City - According to the combined survey conducted by Jagaran.com, KPMG and Facebook, Indore is India’s best city to live in and the safest city is Dehradun. However the top three big cities — Delhi, Mumbai and Bengaluru —do not even feature in the list of top ten most livable cities.
Pune-Mumbai Hyperloop project - The Maharashtra state government has accorded the Pune-Mumbai Hyperloop project the status of ‘Public Infrastructure Project’. The Hyperloop project, a joint venture between the Maharashtra government and Virgin Hyperloop, aims to build a high-tech transport system that will connect Pune to Mumbai and reduce the time taken to travel between the two cities to 25 minutes.
Operation Greens - The Union Ministry of Food Processing Industries (MoFPI) approved the operationalisation strategy for Operation Greens. The Operation Greens was announced in the Budget speech of 2018-19 with an outlay of Rs 500 crores to stabilise the supply of Tomato, Onion and Potato (TOP) crops. It will ensure availability of TOP crops throughout the country round the year without price volatility. NAFED will be the Nodal Agency to implement price stabilisation measures.
Mekedatu Drinking Water Project - The Tamil Nadu government moved the Supreme Court to stay the operation of the permission given by central government to the Karnataka government to go ahead with preparation of a detailed project report for Mekedatu balancing reservoir cum drinking water project across the inter-state Cauvery river.
New Projects in Varanasi - The Prime Minister will dedicate an inland waterways terminal on river Ganga in Varanasi to the nation. This is the first of the four multimodal terminals being constructed on River Ganga as part of the World Bank-aided Jal Marg Vikas project of the Inland Waterways Authority of India. 
Hausla 2018 - National Festival for Children of Child Care Institutions (CCIs)- “Hausla 2018” of the Ministry of Women and Child Development (MWCD) was inaugurated in New Delhi. Festival is witnessing participation of more than 600 Children drawn from CCIs from 18 states in the various events like painting competition. The theme for the event is “Child Safety”.
Safe City Project - The central government has approved a ‘Safe City Project’ for Lucknow under the Nirbhaya Fund Scheme with an aim to strengthen security of women in public places. Safe City Projects implemented in eight selected cities — Mumbai, Delhi, Kolkata, Chennai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Ahmedabad and Lucknow — under the Nirbhaya Fund Scheme.

30 Satellite Launched by ISRO - The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) on November 29, 2018 successfully launched a hyperspectral imaging satellite (HySIS), an earth observation satellite along with 30 foreign commercial satellites from Satish Dhawan Space Centre in Sriharikota, Andhra Pradesh. The satellites were launched through Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle (PSLV-C43). HysIS means Hyper Spectral Imaging Satellite. It is an earth observation satellite developed by ISRO. The foreign satellites launched along with HySIS include 1 Micro and 29 Nano satellites from 8 different countries. Out of the 30 commercial satellites, 23 are from the United States.
GSAT-29 Launched - The Indian Space Research Organisation launched the communication satellite GSAT-29 aboard ISRO’s heavy-lift rocket GSLV Mark-III. The launch took place from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre at Sriharikota in Andhra Pradesh. The 3,423 kg GSAT-29 intended to meet the communication requirements of users, including in the North East and in Jammu and Kashmir.
InSight Landed on Mars - NASA’s InSight explorer successfully touched down on Mars on November 26, 2018, after an almost seven-month journey through deep space. InSight explorer is built by scientists in the United States, France and Germany. InSight stands for Interior Exploration using Seismic Investigations, Geodesy and Heat Transport. It has been designed to study the "inner space" of Mars: its crust, mantle, and core.
ExseedSat-1 - First time in Indian space history SpaceX will launch the first Indian satellite, ExseedSat-1. The one-kg communication satellite, will be launched on board SpaceX’s Falcon 9 rocket from Vandenberg Air Force base at California, USA. It has been designed and developed by Mumbai-based Exceed Space.
Nuclear Triad - India announced the completion of its survivable nuclear triad by adding maritime strike capability to land and air-based delivery platforms for nuclear weapons.  This means that Arihant is now prowling the deep seas carrying ballistic missiles equipped with nuclear warheads. India has become the sixth country — after US, Russia, UK, France and China — to have a fully operational nuclear triad. Now India can hide its ballistic missiles at sea for a long period of time and hit back at the enemy from sea, if its land and air-based delivery systems have been neutralised by the enemy in a nuclear strike.
Hand in Hand Exercise - The militaries of China and India would hold 7th India and China joint military exercises - 'Hand in Hand' from December 10 in southwest China's Chengdu city to improve their capabilities in fighting terrorism.
Vajra Prahar - The 12-day long joint exercise between the Indian Special Forces of the Sapta Shakti Command and troops of the US Pacific Command Special Forces known as 'Vajra Prahar' commenced in Rajasthan's Jaipur.
Cope India Exercise - The air forces of the United States and India are scheduled to participate in a 12-day- long joint exercise 'Cope India 2019' in Panagarh airbase, West Bengal. It showcases efforts and commitment of the two nations to build a free and open Indo-Pacific region.
KONKAN Exercise - Naval exercise between India and the United Kingdom, KONKAN held in Goa this year. The Bilateral KONKAN exercise provides a platform for the two Navies to periodically exercise at sea and in harbour, so as to build interoperability and share best practices.
EXERCISE INDRA - The joint military exercise between Indian and Russia EXERCISE INDRA 2018 on combating insurgency under the aegis of United Nations (UN) is being conducted at Jhansi, Uttar Pradesh. 
SIMBEX - The 25th edition of SIMBEX, “Singapore-India Maritime Bilateral Exercise” is scheduled to be held from November 10- 21, 2018 in the Andaman Sea and the Bay of Bengal. The 2018 edition marks the silver jubilee of SIMBEX. 
Dharma Guardian-2018 - Armies of India and Japan began their first-ever joint military exercise in Mizoram. The focus of the two-week-long exercise ‘Dharma Guardian-2018″ will be to enhance tactical skills against global terrorism.
Samudra Shakti - Indian Navy will participate in the inaugural edition of Indian Navy–Indonesian Navy Bilateral Exercise ‘Samudra Shakti’ scheduled from 12  to 18 Nov 18.
MH-60 ‘Romeo’ Helicopters - The NDA government issued the “letter of request” to the US government for the Rs 13,500 crore acquisition of 24 naval multi-role MH-60 ‘Romeo’ helicopters, armed with torpedoes and missiles for potent anti-submarine warfare capabilities. MH-60 choppers will be manufactured by Sikorsky-Lockheed Martin, under the US foreign military sales programme.
Space Museums - Indian Space Research Organisation (Isro) has decided to set up space museums across the country, including Delhi and Thiruvananthapuram, to educate and inform the masses about space technologies and advancement in the space sector.
K9 Vajra and M777 howitzers - The Army inducted new artillery guns and equipment, including K9 Vajra and M777 howitzers, at Deolali artillery centre in Nashik district of Maharashtra. The induction ceremony took place in the presence of Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman and Army chief General Bipin Rawat. 
Nano Space Technology Park - The Kerala government is preparing to set up a nano space technology Park with technical support from the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO).

Baba Kalyani Committee - The Baba Kalyani led committee constituted by the Ministry of Commerce and Industry to study the existing SEZ (Special Economic Zone) policy of India submitted its report to Commerce Minister Suresh Prabhu. The objective of committee was to suggest measures for maximising utilisation of vacant land in SEZs and make it WTO compatible.
IMD World Talent Ranking 2018 - India slipped two positions to rank at 53rd position in a global survey ‘IMD World Talent Ranking 2018’ released by IMD Business School Switzerland on fostering and attracting talent. In 2017, India was ranked at 55th position. While Switzerland retained its top position for the fifth consecutive year on the list.
World Energy Outlook - The International Energy Agency in its latest report 'World Energy Outlook' stated that India will overtake the U.S. to become the world’s second-biggest emitter of carbon dioxide from the power sector before 2030. China will remain the biggest emitter.

Constitution Day - The 69th Constitution Day was observed across India on November 26, 2018 to mark the adoption of the Indian Constitution by the Constituent Assembly. The Constitution of India was adopted by the Constituent Assembly on November 26, 1949 and it came into force on January 26, 1950.
National Milk Day - National Milk Day is celebrated on November 26 to mark the birth anniversary of India's most successful dairy entrepreneur Dr. Varghese Kurien, the founder of dairy firm Amul. India is the largest milk producer in the world.

International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women - The International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women was observed on November 25, 2018. Year for Welfare of Disabled Soldiers - Army Chief Gen. Bipin Rawat said on November 12, 2018 that the Indian Army has dedicated the Year 2018 to the welfare of Disabled Soldiers who have been disabled in the line of duty, while serving the Nation.

Jharkhand Statehood Day - Jharkhand celebrated its 17th Statehood Day on 15 November, on the birth anniversary of freedom fighter Birsa Munda. The state was carved out of southern Bihar in 2000.
Rosogolla Day - The West Bengal government has decided to observe ‘Rosogolla Day’ on November 14 to commemorate the first anniversary of the State’s famous sweet getting Geographical Indication (GI) tag as ‘Bengal’s Rosogolla’.
World Cities Day - The World Cities Day was observed across the world on October 31, 2018 to work together for planned and sustainable urban life. The 2018 theme of the day was ‘Building Sustainable and Resilient Cities’. 
Indian Organ Donation Day - ‘9th Indian Organ Donation Day’ was organized by the National Organ and Tissue Transplant Organization (NOTTO) in Delhi. The best performing State of Tamil Nadu was also felicitated. The State of Maharashtra received an award for being the best State for promoting awareness of organ donations.
World Fisheries Day - World Fisheries Day is celebrated every year on November 21 to highlight the importance of healthy oceans ecosystems and to ensure sustainable stocks of fisheries in the world.

Hockey World Cup 2018 - Odisha is hosting the Hockey World Cup 2018. The opening ceremony of Men's Hockey World Cup took place at Kalinga Stadium, Bhubaneswar.  India is hosting the FIH Hockey World Cup for the third time. World's top 16 teams will fight for the coveted title in the 14th edition of the tournament.
Women’s World Twenty20 Title  - Australia clinched Women’s World Twenty20 title as they attained an easy win over England in the final of the Women’s World T20 tournament. This is Australia’s 4th title win at Women’s World T20. West Indies hosted the event.
Women’s World Boxing Championships - The Women’s World Boxing Championships begins in Delhi. The championship is being hosted by India for the first time since 2006.
Asian Shotgun Championship - India’s Angad Vir Singh Bajwa won the gold medal with a world record score in the men's skeet final at 8th Asian Shotgun Championship in Kuwait. With the feat, he became the first Indian skeet shooter to win gold at a continental or world level event.
MC Mary Kom - MC Mary Kom has created history by becoming the first woman to win six boxing world titles by clinching the 48 kg gold at the 2018 AIBA Women’s World Boxing Championships in New Delhi.
Bajrang Punia - Star Indian wrestler Bajrang Punia touched a new high in his career by achieving the number one rank in the world in the 65kg category. The 24-year-old Bajrang, who has won five medals this season, including CWG and Asian Games gold and a silver at the World Championship, was placed atop the ranking table with 96 points in the United World Wrestling (UWW).
Rohit Sharma - Rohit Sharma achieved twin milestones, first by surpassing regular captain Virat Kohli to become India’s highest run-scorer in T20 Internationals, followed by the most number of centuries - 4 – T20 format. He surpassed Kohli’s India record of 2101 runs in 58 innings. Rohit now has 2203 runs to jump to the second spot in the all-time list led by New Zealander Martin Guptill (2271).
Wasim Jaffer - Veteran first-class cricketer Wasim Jaffer became the first Indian batsman to touch the 11,000-run figure in the Ranji Trophy. The Vidharbha batsman achieved the milestone during the third-round match against Baroda in Nagpur, Maharashtra. 
Esha Singh - India's 13-year old shooter Esha Singh won three Gold at the 62nd National Shooting Championship at Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala.
Lakshya Sen - India’s top junior shuttler Lakshya Sen (17 years old) won bronze medal at Li Ning BWF World Junior Badminton Championships 2018 held at Markham, Canada.
Lionel Messi - Barcelona star Lionel Messi was named La Liga Player of the Year for 6th time. Messi lifted the prestigious award at FIFA’s gala (Fédération Internationale de Football Association) ceremony in Zurich.
Simone Biles - Simone Biles made history by picking up her record 13th career gold medal at the world gymnastics championships in Doha, Qatar. She hails from the USA.
